T20 WC 2021: 5 in-form IPL players who can be a good addition to India’s squad
Few experienced and young players have shown an incredible form in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
2. Yuzvendra Chahal
Rahul Chahar has the ability to bowl fast leg-spin in the slow and low UAE pitches, and that is the reason he has been selected ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal. This was the reason given by the BCCI selection panel when they chose to select youth over experience for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The fortunes though have reversed as Chahar is not in the playing XI for Mumbai Indians (MI) matches in the UAE leg.
Meanwhile, Chahal has hit back at the selectors by letting the ball do all the talking. The RCB leg-spinner has so far taken 14 wickets in 12 games this year and 10 of those wickets have come in the UAE leg of the IPL. He has looked threatening to say the least, and teams are virtually finding him hard to get by in the middle overs.
The ICC has given teams time till October 10 to tweak the squads. It would be interesting to note what the selectors think of Chahal’s current form.
