T20 WC 2021: 5 in-form IPL players who can be a good addition to India’s squad
Few experienced and young players have shown an incredible form in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) is nearing the business end of the tournament, with three teams in contention for a place in the playoffs. So far, this year’s IPL has provided plenty of exciting cricket, action, drama, and fresh new talents. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) fortune changed for good after the inclusion of Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer in the team.
After languishing at the bottom of the table in the majority of the India leg of the IPL, Iyer’s blazing starts upfront has coincided with KKR’s fortunes. So far, the southpaw has scored 201 runs in six matches for his team and has announced his arrival in IPL in style. With Delhi Capitals (DC) boasting of pacers such as Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, no one thought that pacer Avesh Khan would hog the limelight and be skipper Rishabh Pant’s go-to bowler.
Avesh has shown immense consistency and by far has maintained accurate lines and lengths. He has so far taken 22 wickets in just 13 games. While the youngsters have shown a lot of promise, the usual suspects such as Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Harshal Patel, and KL Rahul have maintained their consistency in the ongoing IPL. While few of the above-mentioned players are selected in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, few of them do not find a place in the 15-member squad announced by the BCCI selection panel. Meanwhile, here are few

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad
From being the first uncapped player to score three fifties in the IPL to becoming CSK’s first-choice opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad has come a long way. During this year’s edition of the IPL, the right-hand batter has maintained an indefatigable appetite to score runs and ensure CSK finish the games well. The 24-year-old has so far scored 521 runs in 13 games.
Gaikwad has scored his runs at a brisk strike rate too and has shown a great amount of composure and calmness at the crease. Under pressure and tense run-chases too, the right-hand batter goes about his business in an unflustered manner. India skipper Virat Kohli is yet to decide who will partner Rohit Sharma at the top.
With Gaikwad showing consistency and signs of improvement in each passing game, he would certainly have been a great addition to the side for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
