David Warner played a crucial role in Australia’s eight-wicket win over West Indies in the Super 12 match on Saturday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The southpaw stayed unbeaten on 89 runs off 56 balls with the help of nine fours and four sixes. On the back of his incredible knock, the Aaron Finch-led Aussies chased a target of 158 in 16.2 overs with 22 balls to spare.
After the end of the game, Warner had some fun with veteran Caribbean cricketer Dwayne Bravo. The duo shook a leg together and were seen enjoying their heart out. The 38-year-old Bravo is a happy-go-lucky person, who doesn’t prefer to hold himself back. Warner also looked in a happy mood after playing the match-winning knock against Kieron Pollard and Co.

The key was to come out and play my natural game, says David Warner
Following the game, Warner said that he didn’t want to curb his natural instincts and hence, went for his shots from the word go. He also had words of praises for Marsh with whom he shared a second-wicket stand of 124 runs. Moreover, Warner praised the bowlers for keeping a check on the run-scoring and not letting the West Indies batters run away with the game.
“It felt satisfying to be there and hitting the winning runs. The key was to come out and play my natural game, target the bowlers up front. Obviously, the slow bowlers bowling with the new ball there needs to be some adjustment, especially with Akeal Hosein who was swinging it and hard to get away with,” Warner was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“For me it is about targeting the first two balls of the over and Marsh coming in and playing that knock was outstanding. The bowlers have been outstanding. Last game was clinical and tonight to come out and bowl the way they did, we knew they would come hard at us and would keep coming even if they lost three wickets, to restrict them to a competitive total was a good job,” he added.
