6. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya was once deemed as ‘India’s Jacques Kallis‘. He had a good year in 2020, but his career has taken a turn for the worse in 2021. After battling a number of injuries over the past year, he was unable to bowl in the World Cup, which severely hampered India’s bowling attack.
Despite the fact that he did not bowl, India persisted with him because of his batting abilities. Even after a poor IPL season, India stuck with him. However, he failed to finish the innings against Pakistan and had a miserable outing against New Zealand in which he failed to deliver. Following those games, his finishing abilities were heavily questioned.
Opponents discovered his vulnerability against cutters and bouncers. When a slower bouncer away from the body was bowled, he clearly struggled to put bat on ball. Despite bowling some overs at the end, his pace slowed down and his line length wasn’t tight. Injuries have cost him a lot, and he needs to overcome them if he wants to be a part of the team in the future.
