T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan's Sohaib Maqsood ruled out with back injury
Shoaib Malik, who has a plethora of experience under his sleeves, is expected to replace Maqsood.
Pakistan batter Sohaib Maqsood has been ruled out from the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 owing to a back injury. Previously there were speculations on him missing the mega event as he picked up an injury during the ongoing Pakistan National T20 Cup. Maqsood wasn’t included in the Southern Punjab’s match against Central Punjab on Thursday.
The batter was then taken to the hospital for MRI scans. Thus, it was understood that the decision on whether he will be a part of the marquee event will be taken post the reports of the scan are out. Renowned sports broadcaster Sawera Pasha took it to her official Twitter account to inform about the same.
“🔴📢 gutted to announce that Sohaib Maqsood has been ruled out of T20 World Cup due to back injury. Replacement will be announced soon. Replacement teaser: palat kay araha ho main phir 😋 #T20WorldCup #Pakistan,” she wrote.
Sohaib Maqsood shares a heartfelt message
The batter took it to his Twitter account to share an emotional message. This comes after the announcement of him missing out on the World Cup. He shared an image that read, “the moment we realize that everything happens by the will of Allah, all our worries begin to fade.”
Sawera Pasha replied to the Tweet, “Chin up @sohaibcricketer.. you worked back into the National squad with your sheer hard work and performances, not by any favours.. It is an unfortunate situation to miss out from World Cup due to unforeseen injury but you’ll be back in no time for two more ICC events in no time.”
Now, that he won’t be travelling with the Men in Green for the World Cup, the discussions on his replacement have already started taking rounds. Shoaib Malik, who has a plethora of experience under his sleeves, is expected to make it to the squad as a replacement for Maqsood.
Pakistan is all set to begin its training session on October 10. The net sessions for the team are scheduled at the National High-Performance Centre. The squad will leave for UAE on a chartered plane. The qualifiers round of the T20 World Cup will start from October 17 whereas the Super-12 stage begins on October 23.
