The much-awaited Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup got underway on Saturday with the game between South Africa and Australia. Both the teams are in Group 1 which is the toughest in the tournament and cannot afford slip ups at any cost. Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first only to get off to a fantastic start thanks to their bowlers who struck regularly in the powerplay.
While most of the wickets were proper, South Africa opener Quinton de Kock found a hilarious way to get out in the 5th over of the innings. The Proteas were already in trouble having lost Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen early in the innings and needed De Kock to make an impact.
With not many runs on the board, the pressure was mounting. In a bid to churn out a boundary off the first ball of the fifth over, Quinton de Kock shuffled across his stumps to attempt a cheeky paddle. Instead, the ball lobbed off his body, hung in the air and bounced onto his stumps.
De Kock lost the sight of the ball and was rather looking to steal a single only to watch the horror unfolding in front of his eyes. He scored only 7 runs off 12 balls

South Africa off to a poor start
South Africa came into the World Cup having won nine out of last 10 T20 Internationals. They were confident enough to perform well. It reflected in their warm-up games as well as they defeated Afghanistan and Pakistan with Van der Dussen smashing a stunning century in the steep-chase against the Men in Green.
However, the man in-form has already been dismissed cheaply and South Africa will be looking at their middle-order to post a decent total on the board. It also remains to be seen, if the pitch gets slow with sun beating down in the middle with this being an afternoon game.
