Spare a thought for Team Pakistan! Their perfect campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021 has come to an end thanks to some spectacular hitting from Matthew Wade. The southpaw rose to the occasion in the all-important match and took Australia to a five-wicket triumph. The Aussies will now meet neighbours New Zealand in the high-voltage final clash which takes place on Sunday (November 14).

Pakistan looked in command for the best part as their win even looked inevitable at one stage. Batting first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Men in Green posted a challenging 176/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman slammed half-centuries as Pakistan seemed on the driver’s seat at halfway mark.

Australia’s chase started off terribly with skipper Aaron Finch bagging a golden duck. However, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh steadied the ship with a 51-run stand. The duo passed on the baton to Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade, who went berserk against Pakistan bowlers. The latter was brilliant in particular as Australia crossed the line with one over to spare, winning the contest by five wickets.
