T20 World Cup 2021: Strongest Scotland Predicted Playing XI against Namibia

Scotland are set to face Namibia in their second match of the Super 12 in the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The team, led by Kyle Coetzer, started with three wins in the qualifiers and topped the points table. Scotland got the better of Bangladesh, Oman, and PNG.

However, Afghanistan gave them a reality check on Monday with a hefty 130-run defeat. After being asked to chase down a target of 191, Scotland were bowled out for a paltry 60 in a mere 10.2 overs. It remains to be seen if Scotland make a few changes in their eleven going into their next encounter.

Here is Scotland’s predicted Playing XI for SCO vs NAM Match:

Openers- George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer

George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer are most likely to open the batting for Scotland in the upcoming contest. Coetzer scored 41 runs against Oman, but apart from that, he has looked a tad lacklustre. In four matches, the Scotland skipper has only scored 57 runs at an average of 14.25 and a strike rate of 118.75.

Munsey, on the other hand, has looked good in patches but is yet to be at his sheer best. The southpaw has only scored 89 runs from four games at a strike rate of 127.14. If Scotland have to make a comeback in the World Cup, the pair of Munsey and Coetzer has to fire on all cylinders.

Middle-Order- Matthew Cross, Richie Berrington, Calum Macleod

Richie Berrington has arguably been the standout batter for Scotland in the tournament. The right-hander is in prime form, having scored 103 runs from four innings at an average of 34.33 and a strike rate of 132.05. However, he failed to open his account against the Afghans after Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed him.

Matthew Cross had a decent outing against Oman, but even he bagged a duck against the Afghans. Calum Macleod is a class act, but he is yet to play a knock of substance in the World Cup. All three of Cross, Berrington, and Macleod need to pull their socks up for Scotland to perform well next time around.

All-rounders- Michael Leask, Chris Greaves

Chris Greaves put in an all-round performance against Bangladesh to start his journey in the multi-nation mega event. Back then, he scored 45 and picked up three crucial wickets in the Tigers’ run-chase. Since then, he has blown a tad hot and cold. Greaves needs to find his mojo back. Michael Leask is yet to perform well in the World Cup. He has only picked two wickets at an economy rate of 7.75.

Bowlers- Mark Watt, Josh Davey, Safyaan Sharif, Bradley Wheal

Josh Davey has been the standout bowler for Scotland without a shred of a doubt. The fast bowler has picked up nine wickets from four games at an economy rate of 6.96. But against the Afghans, he gave away 41 runs in his four overs at an economy of 10.25, albeit he got the wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Mark Watt has been exceptional for Scotland, having picked up four wickets at an economy rate of 5.50. Safyaan Sharif has picked up four wickets from the three games he has played thus far. Pacer Bradley Wheal has accounted for four scalps but has been the most expensive bowler for his team.
