India has locked horns with Pakistan for the highly anticipated match of the T20 World Cup 2021. Ahead of the start of the match, team India took a knee to show their support for the fight against racism. Recently many teams have been taking the initiative to lend their support to the Black Lives Matter movement. Thus, before the game between India and their arch-rivals started, the Virat Kohli-led side too decided to take the knee.

The practice of the teams taking a knee before the matches had been widespread since the year 2020. In the first match of the Super 12s, Australia had faced South Africa at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Even the Proteas and the Aaron Finch-led side had taken the knee ahead of their opening game of the mega event.

Previously, when England and West Indies faced each other for the second match of the Super 12s, the former also came forward to promote the good message. Ahead of the match the England skipper Eoin Morgan had stated that the team will join West Indies in taking the knee.  He also pointed that it is important in order to bring change globally.

“Tomorrow we’ll join the West Indies in taking a knee to show our support in the fight against racism. The second part of it is we’ve always felt that we need something within our squad and our side that we feel a part of making a change, both locally and nationally and potentially globally,” Morgan had said on Friday during the pre-match press conference as per ICC.

Both the teams have some impactful players on the side. Ever since it was announced that both the nations are in the same group, the cricketing fraternity has been raring to watch the action unfold. Several cricket experts and former cricketers had come forward to express their opinions on the match.

India has had a dominating record against the Men in Green in the World Cups. The team has won on seven occasions against their arch-rivals in 50 Over World Cup and five times in T20 World Cup.
