One of the finds of the tournament, Dewald Brevis, aka Baby AB, continued from where he left in the U-19 World Cup in West Indies earlier this year. He was one of the rare bright spots in a disastrous and forgettable campaign for the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians.

The 19-year-old fast0tracked himself to be a real contender for a rebuilding South African squad for the World Cup. His 161 runs in IPL 2022 came at a high strike rate of 142.47. While his season stats don’t look that prolific, his temperament and skill impressed one and all.

Apart from being promising batter and an agile fielder, Brevis is also a part-time leg-spinner and he has the wicket of Virat Kohli to boast about. One definitely for the future, Brevis maybe did enough to get considered for the present as well.

Deepak Hooda enjoyed a purple patch and finally came of age after being given a number of opportunities but failing to impress as a young player for both Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After making his India debut, the all-rounder enjoyed his best season with the bat and was a crucial cog in the LSG line-up as they propelled themselves to the playoffs. With 451 runs to his credit, including four half-centuries, Hooda was the perfect No.3 for LSG, showing his versatility in different situations.

Also a gun fielder and a useful bowler, Hooda might be the perfect three-dimensional player that India has been looking for to slot in the middle-order in Australia.

Tim David had an IPL of two halves, and perhaps, was one of the reasons why his franchise had a tournament of two halves as well. With a large investment of over INR 8 crore made on him by the Mumbai Indians, the former RCB man wasn’t shown much faith as he kept finding himself being dropped after the first two games of the season.

One of the finds of the tournament, Dewald Brevis, aka Baby AB, continued from where he left in the U-19 World Cup in West Indies earlier this year. He was one of the rare bright spots in a disastrous and forgettable campaign for the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians.
The 19-year-old fast0tracked himself to be a real contender for a rebuilding South African squad for the World Cup. His 161 runs in IPL 2022 came at a high strike rate of 142.47. While his season stats don’t look that prolific, his temperament and skill impressed one and all.
Apart from being promising batter and an agile fielder, Brevis is also a part-time leg-spinner and he has the wicket of Virat Kohli to boast about. One definitely for the future, Brevis maybe did enough to get considered for the present as well.
<h3>3. Deepak Hooda</h3>

Deepak Hooda enjoyed a purple patch and finally came of age after being given a number of opportunities but failing to impress as a young player for both Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
After making his India debut, the all-rounder enjoyed his best season with the bat and was a crucial cog in the LSG line-up as they propelled themselves to the playoffs. With 451 runs to his credit, including four half-centuries, Hooda was the perfect No.3 for LSG, showing his versatility in different situations.
Also a gun fielder and a useful bowler, Hooda might be the perfect three-dimensional player that India has been looking for to slot in the middle-order in Australia. 
<h3>4. Tim David</h3>

Tim David had an IPL of two halves, and perhaps, was one of the reasons why his franchise had a tournament of two halves as well. With a large investment of over INR 8 crore made on him by the Mumbai Indians, the former RCB man wasn’t shown much faith as he kept finding himself being dropped after the first two games of the season.
However, with Pollard being far from effective, and MI&#8217;s fortunes not getting any better, he was finally given a chance in the later part of the tournament and had an impressive renaissance, single-handedly closing and winning games. His 186 runs came at a strike rate of over 216 and he played a number of game-changing innings in his eight appearances.
Having also featured for Singapore, the swashbuckling finisher has walked himself into contention for a place in Australia’s squad as they host the upcoming T20 World Cup.
<h3>5. R Ashwin</h3>

Everyone already had expectations from R Ashwin in the IPL. The wily bowler and one of India’s most successful spinners, it was Ashwin the batter who quietly made his mark in IPL 2022, showing his experience and versatility.
With RR showing trust in his abilities, Ashwin found himself batting in all kinds of situations, from a middle-order consolidator to a re-builder to even a finisher and enjoyed a fruitful campaign in RR’s run to a second-place finish. He scored 191 runs at an average of 27.29 to go along with his 12 wickets.
Having just re-established himself in the India limited-overs setup, IPL 2022 added further fuel to his fire to represent India in the T20 World Cup again and the selectors would have definitely made a note of the same. 
<h3>6. Dinesh Karthik</h3>

Possibly the most unexpected and surprising name on this list if it was made before the start of this season, Dinesh Karthik enjoyed a stellar season with several telling contributions as the Royal Challengers Bangalore made it into the playoffs.
Having been outspoken about his desire to play for India on the big stage again, the evergreen Karthik, who played in the inaugural edition in 2008, has also been included in the squad for the T20Is against Ireland.
At 37, the finisher is certainly not finished yet, as he carried his destructive match-defining exploits in the recently concluded South Africa T20I series. It is difficult for the selectors now to overlook him for the tournament Down Under.
<h3>7. Marco Jansen</h3>

Another promising South African youngster, Marco Jansen burst onto the scene in the recently concluded home Test series against India and has continued his upward trajectory since.
After being released by Mumbai Indians last season, Jansen flourished for Sunrisers Hyderabad this year, and albeit the team had a disappointing campaign, the pacer was one of their most impactful players.
It remains to be seen whether his performances will be enough to be considered for the resurgent rebuilding South Africa squad in their quest for a first-ever T20 World Cup.
<h3>8. Kuldeep Yadav</h3>

Another Indian fan-favourite who had been struggling for form and had gone through a rough patch, Kuldeep Yadav had his redemption this season as he had his most fruitful IPL campaign ever. He kept challenging others for the Purple Cap while being DC’s standout bowler this campaign.
He picked up 21 wickets, almost as many as he picked in last three seasons combined, with a number of match-winning contributions this season, and his passion, newfound confidence and hunger to prove himself came to the fore when he found himself bowling overs in difficult situations.
As expected, Kuldeep was rewarded with a place in the Indian squad for the South Africa series at home. However, he was ruled out of the series due to an injury to his right hand
<h3>9. Maheesh Theekshana</h3>

The young Sri Lankan mystery spinner, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/i-used-to-weigh-117-kgs-csk-spinner-maheesh-theekshana-recalls-his-early-days-struggle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maheesh Theekshana</a> was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 50 lakh, quickly established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, picking up crucial wickets and also keeping the runs down.
The 21-year-old tweaker picked up 12 wickets in just nine appearances at an impressive economy of 7.45 including a four-wicket haul in his maiden IPL season. He was a shining light in a dark season for CSK.
Having already made his international debut last year, a strong showing for Theekshana has helped him to further establish himself in Sri Lanka&#8217;s limited-overs setup, and possibly be a part of the team in the upcoming World Cup in Australia. 
<h3>10. Umran Malik</h3>

The name on every fast bowling enthusiast’s mouth right now, Umran Malik took everyone by storm in the recently concluded season, hitting speeds of up to 157 and complimenting that with wicket-taking ability to be a complete package.
The tearaway young pacer was rewarded with a first India call-up for the T20I series against South Africa. However, he did not get a chance to make his debut in the series.
The 22-year-old, initially identified as a net bowler, picked up 22 wickets in IPL 2022 (fourth on the Purple Cap list) which also included a searing five-wicket haul and a four-wicket haul as well.
