Apart from being the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 World Cup history, Sri Lankan batting icon Mahela Jayawardene boasts of having one more achievement in this format and that happens to be having smashed the most number of fours in this competition.

In the 31 matches that he played between the 2007 and 2014 World Cups, Jayawardene has hit 111 fours and is still comfortably sitting on the top of the list as the record has remained unbroken in the last seven years.

Nonetheless, it might change this time around down under as there are some strong contenders who can shatter this record and make a name for themselves on the elite list. These include Rohit Sharma (80), David Warner (80), Chris Gayle (78), and Virat Kohli (78).
