IPL 2025 Most Centuries
The 17th edition of the IPL 2024 gets underway with Chennai Super Kings hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, March 22. Last year, the Super Kings won a record-equaling fifth IPL title after beating Gujarat Titans off the last ball in Ahmedabad. MS Dhoni tactfully used an inexperienced bowling line-up and helped Chennai win the coveted title for the first time since 2021.
Over the years, the IPL has seen some phenomenal batting performances. Centuries galore in every edition of the tournament. Last year, the most number of centuries in a single edition of the IPL was registered. A total of 12 centuries were scored, going past the previous best of eight registered in 2022.
Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler jointly hold the record of scoring the most number of centuries in a single season of the cash-rich league. The Delhi batter amassed four centuries in 2016 en route to winning the IPL Orange Cap. Meanwhile, Buttler registered four three-figure scores in 2022. Kohli has scored seven centuries in his IPL career, which is the most by any player in the tournament's rich history. His former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate, Chris Gayle, sits in the second position, having scored six tons.
In IPL 2023, Shubman Gill, who won the IPL Orange Cap, scored three spectacular tons. Kohli also smashed two three-figure scores, while Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Kumar, Cameron Green, Heinrich Klaasen, Venkatesh Iyer, Prabhsimran Singh, and Harry Brook notched up one century each.
