IPL 2025 Four Wickets: List of players with four-wicket hauls
While T20 cricket is synonymous with explosive batting, it’s the bowlers who occasionally weave magic on the field, turning the tide in their team’s favour. After all, there’s a reason why it is said, ‘batters win you games, but bowlers win you tournaments’. It’s no different in the Indian Premier League. There are proven examples of it, such as Sunil Narine playing the role of a hero to help the Kolkata Knight Riders win the championship in 2012 or 2014, or Lasith Malinga defending just nine runs in the 2019 IPL final. The headline features the name of the batters, while the bowlers remain away from the limelight but are the main characters after all.
Meanwhile, picking a four-wicket haul isn’t an easy task in T20I cricket, let alone in the game of cricket. However, some cricketers know the art of picking wickets and getting the job done time and again. Narine tops the list in this scenario. Even though he hasn’t won the IPL Purple Cap ever in his career, the West Indies international is regarded as one of the biggest match-winners in the history of IPL.
Notably, the 35-year-old has eight four-wicket hauls in IPL history, which is followed by Lasith Malinga and Yuzvendra Chahal with seven each. Current Punjab Kings pacer Kagiso Rabada has six four-wicket hauls to his name, which is the fourth most in IPL, while veteran spinner Amit Mishra has five to his name, the fifth-most in the history of the cash-rich league.
Interestingly, just like Narine, Mishra has never bagged an IPL Purple Cap in his career. This goes on to show the rigours of IPL, in which a cricketer might have an excellent season, but there can be someone who’s been better.
