The inaugural season of Major League Cricket (MLC) is all set to begin on July 13. It is worth noting that the tournament’s summit clash is scheduled to be held on July 30. A total of 19 T20 matches will be played throughout the tournament, with six teams going head-to-head for the coveted title.
Being the first ever professional T20 cricket league of America, the tournament can make big strides in promoting the sport in the USA, considering that the 2024 T20I World Cup might be co-hosted by the USA and West Indies.
Furthermore, there is major excitement ahead of the tournament as four of the six franchises competing are owned by Indian Premier League (IPL) team owners. The draft of the tournament was held at NASA's Johnson Space Centre in Houston on March 19.
There have been several big names that will be featured in the inaugural season of the MLC 2023. Jason Roy, Marcus Stoinis, Quinton de Kock and Aaron Finch being some of the few. The entire competition will be played at two venues: Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas and Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina.
