PSL 2025 Standings

The Pakistan Super League 2024 points table is the perfect gauze of how the six franchises are performing in this highly competitive tournament. The PSL 2024 is to begin on Saturday, February 17. This is the ninth edition of the popular T20 league from Pakistan. The final of the PSL 2024 is to be played on March 18. 

The Pakistan Super League was formed only eight years ago, but it has quickly risen to the level of other major national cricket leagues, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Big Bash League (BBL). Initially being played in the UAE, the PSL has moved back home to Pakistan in the last three seasons and has swiftly grown in value, prominence, and quality. 

One thing that brings excitement amongst the fans in the Pakistan Super League is the format of the tournament. The competition is divided into two halves. The first stage is the group stage, played in a home-and-away format.

In this round, teams are placed according to the results of the ten matches they will play. A win yields two points, whilst a loss yields zero. If the match ends is abandoned, both teams receive one point. 

If the game ends in a tie, the winner is usually decided by a super over, in which both teams play one extra over to determine the winner. In exceedingly unusual cases, the super-over may result in a draw, in which case another super-over is played until a winner is chosen.

PSL Points Table 2024 Rules

The position of each team on the league table is determined by the total amount of points earned in all matches played. The net run rate also comes into play in determining the top four teams and hence a team rarely can afford to lose a game by a big margin. If the two teams have the same run rate, the team with the most victories is favoured; if they both have an equal number of wins, the team with the fewest defeats is ranked higher in the league standings.

If two teams are still tied after considering the first four criteria, their head-to-head match will determine their ranking. That is, the team with the best outcome versus its opponent is ranked higher.

The top four teams with the most points advance to the playoffs. The first-ranked team clashes with the second-ranked team in the Qualifier and the winner directly makes it into the final. The third and fourth-placed team play in Eliminator 1. The winner of this match and the loser of Qualifier match then face-off. 

The winner of this match plays the winner of the Qualifier in the final of PSL 2024.
