A relatively younger squad of India is currently in Sri Lanka doing its job in the white-ball assignments against the home team. After winning the ODI series, 2-1, Men in Blue kicked off their T20I series also on a winning note. Various laudable efforts were shown by players during the match but wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan’s skills behind stumps gained much attention.

The event happened during the 18th over of the match when Sri Lanka were chasing and needed 42 runs to get hold of the target. Debutant Varun Chakravarthy was on duty with the ball and placed a carrom to SL skipper Dasun Shanaka who couldn’t push it and suffered a loss of balance. In the meanwhile, Ishan Kishan grabbed the opportunity with both hands and effected a smart stumping to send Shanaka back.

Kishan’s efforts not only made ways smooth for India but also fetched debutant Chakravarthy his maiden international wicket. In no time, the video of his masterclass gloves work went viral and fans started comparing him to the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni. It is known by one and all that MSD always used to be the talk of the town for his extraordinary class behind the wickets and fans’ got a glimpse of his class in Kishan during India’s first T20I against Sri Lanka.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Ishan Kishan’s excellent stumping

Talking about the game, the home side won the toss and decided to bowl first. India were off to a shaky start when Prithivi Shaw went back for a golden duck. However, Suryakumar Yadav steadied the innings with his subtle fifty, and the guest side went on to put a decent target of 165 runs. The Lankan batters failed to capitalize on their plans and started losing wickets in a row towards the end, especially.

Charith Asalanka smashed 44 but didn’t have much support from the other end. India won the game by 38 runs and it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was called out as the player of the match for turning the game towards the end by scalping four wickets in a quick span.
