Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar fit to play the 1st Test against South Africa
Bangladesh openersTamim and Soumya suffer an injury scare during a practice match.
Bangladesh have been terrific at home but have been equally poor on the road. They were very good against the Australian team at home and are improving their standards with every game. Their tour of South Africa will probably be the biggest test their skills. South Africa is a very tough place to go. Many elite teams have failed to the beat the Proteas in their own backyard.
The Tigers will look to do the impossible. They will have to play out of their skin to win games in South Africa. The hosts are a fantastic side and will not be complacent. The visitors will have to create their own opportunities as South Africa will give them little to play for.
Tamim and Soumya suffer an injury scare
Soumya Sarkar hurt his shoulder while fielding in the tour game. He immediately went off and that got all the fans back home worried. The tour has not even started and Bangladesh had a major injury scares. However, Soumya going off the field was only precautionary. His shoulder is fine and he will train regularly in the coming week, notified the physio.
“Soumya jarred his shoulder while fielding. It’s just precautionary that we kept him out of the field today but he will train normally this week,” informed the physio while he was talking to the reporters.
Tamim Iqbal also went off the field on the first day of the practice game. He pulled a thigh muscle after snatching a quick single and had to retire immediately. This was a huge blow to the Bangladesh outfit as Tamim is their star player and can get runs against any opposition. However, the team physio clarified his status as well.
He said that Tamim is fine as the scans are encouraging. He also said that the dashing southpaw will take part in the first Test.
“Tamim Iqbal got a minor muscle injury while batting. He looks pretty good. He will train normally this week and should be available for the Test match,” said Thihan Chandramohan, the Bangladeshi physio.
