Tamim Iqbal becomes father of a baby boy

Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal and his wife became proud parents following the birth of their baby boy. Tamim Iqbal pulled out of the Asia Cup T20 2016 to leave to Thailand for the birth of his son. Iqbal, who had pulled out of the tournament to be present for the birth had been replaced by Imrul Kayes for the Asia Cup.

Tamim Iqbal put up a news update on Facebook to announce the good news. ” Our little bundle of joy has arrived! By the Grace of Almighty, we’ve been blessed with a baby boy earlier this morning. Though both mom and son are doing fine, Doctors have kept the little one under observation for 24 hours. Please keep us in your prayers”.

Torrid times have descended Imrul Kayes as he was left out of the side following horrific performances at home against Zimbabwe. His performance against the Indians in the opening match of the Asia Cup saw him dropped for the following match.

The Bangladeshis however, have seemingly turned their fortunes quite considerably as they picked up a win over Sri Lanka. Sabbir Rahman has been the stand out performer in the series, with an impressive 68 in the fixture against Sri Lanka. Mustafizur Rahman too got his magical touch back with a scintillating performance against the Lankan.

The Bangladeshis are still to play Pakistan with the match scheduled for the 2^nd of March. Tamim Iqbal, who opted out of the Asia Cup to be present for the birth of his child, will make his comeback to the side for the World T20 2016 in March in India.
