Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal is frustrated with the fake news that is spreading in the media relating to his early departure from the NatWest T20 Blast. The batsman left his club Essex and came back to Bangladesh after featuring in just two matches for the county. It was reported by both Tamim and the club that the cricketer has gone back owing to personal reasons.

But there were rumours of Tamim and his family being subjected to a hate crime which forced them out of the country. There were also reports of racism and acid attacks which has left Tamim disappointed. All these news circulated among the English dailies despite the cricketer clearing it out on his official Facebook page that he returned to Bangladesh because of personal issues.

The left handed batsman who had a stellar ICC Champions Trophy campaign expressed his frustration on a popular Bangladeshi online portal. The cricketer stated that it is not at all right to spread something which is not true. he mentioned that it will also affect the club who respected his decision to leave.

What Tamim had to say:

“Look, it is unjustified to spread a matter which is not literally true. It is not right for me and for the country from which I departed. It is also harmful for the club authorities who honored even after I wanted to depart early,” said Tamim.

“My wife had to receive unwanted calls and messages and explain things to people that she is okay and anything like that did not happen at all over there. I was getting upset because she doesn’t deserve that,” Tamim said continued.

“I was surprised and felt much wrong about the incident. First of all, when I pointed out to ‘personal reason’, I think everyone should respect that. I hoped, they would, at least, wait till my arrival in the country, would talk to me in that regard and then write. But unfortunately it did not happen like that.”  added Tamim.

Tamim was amazed with how the media tried to highlight stories that was not true in any sense. He said that he did not want to stretch the issue because his family had to go through a lot of problems. He mentioned that he has learnt a lot from the incident and he hopes the culprit behind the same also has.

“It was surprising how they tried to make a ‘not true’ into a ‘truth’. In these case one should have decent proofs if they wanted to prove an incident after somebody denied,” Tamim said.

“I did not ask for excuses because it is a matter of personal choice. I did not want to prolong the issue as me and my family had to suffer a lot after the incident,” Tamim Iqbal added.

“Anyway every incident brings some lessons. I’ve also learnt from these things. Hope whoever did it, also got some lessons,” Tamim concluded.
