Tamim Iqbal likely to bid on Mushfiqur Rahim’s bat for COVID fight
It's the same bat which helped Mushfiqur score his maiden Test double ton against Sri Lanka in 2013.

Tamim Iqbal, the veteran Bangladesh batsman, has put forth his desires of buying Mushfiqur Rahim’s bat from the auction in the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe. Earlier, the 32-year-old Rahim said that he would be giving away the bat, which helped him become the first from the country to get a Test double century. He accomplished the milestone against Sri Lanka back in March 2013.
The Bogra-born now is set to put the bat in the auction to raise funds for the ones affected in the coronavirus outbreak. The cases have nearly reached 10,000 with over 175 people losing their lives. Mushfiqur urged the people to place bids on his bat, bearing in mind the grave situation all around.

“The bat will go on auction within a few days through an e-commerce website. The preparation is about to complete. I would like to the request to all who are capable to buy the bat at a higher price, and this is not for me, but aiming to help the people who are suffering due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Mushfiqur was quoted as saying during an Instagram Live session with teammate Mushfiqur on Saturday, May 2.
After getting to know Rahim’s intention, Tamim didn’t hesitate to express his desire of buying that willow. “To be honest, I have decided to bid to buy Mushfiqur’s bat right after he announced to put his bat on the auction,” Tamim said during the chat.
Recently, Shakib Al Hasan also auctioned his World Cup 2019 bat in the wake of the abject scenario. His bat fetched taka 20 lakhs and Bangladesh-born US citizen Syed Rajib Imteaz is the owner of it. Recently, Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar also decided to auction their memorable bats. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will be auctioning off the ball with which he took a hat-trick against Sri Lanka.
As far as Tamim is concerned, of late, he lent his helping hand for 91 athletes, who have been financially hit by the coronavirus outbreak. He has reached out to support cricketers, swimmers, footballers, cyclists and coaches as well.
