Australia will take on Bangladesh in the 2 match Test series. The host’s practice session was spoiled by rain and vice-captain Tamim Iqbal took this opportunity to talk to the journalists on behalf of the team. In the interview, he touched upon many topics and discussed his team’s chances in the series.

Tamim Iqbal feels the need for execution of plans

Tamim Iqbal said that it is very important for the hosts to execute their plans if they want to win the series.

“I think the little things must be done correctly if we want to win 2-0, it’s not that we say it and it will happen automatically. Whichever team emerges victorious, I always say every session, every ball needs to be battled out,“I’ve always said the plans have to be executed on the field. The team that can do it well have better chances of winning.” Tamim Iqbal said as quoted by the bdnews24.

Bangladesh needs their bowlers to turn up

In Test cricket you need bowlers to fire as taking 20 wickets is necessary for winning a Test match. Tamim Iqbal admitted that Bangladesh needs it’s strike options like Mustafizur, Miraj and Shakib to fire if they want to do well in the series.

“Miraz and Mustafizur are both very good bowlers, there is no doubt about it. If we want to keep ourselves ahead, they have to do really well, Shakib, Mustafizur and Miraz in particular [have to bowl very well]. They are our key bowlers. If they can perform well, we can definitely stay ahead.”Tamim Iqbal added

No excitement for the 50th Test

The left-handed batsman will be playing his 50th Test for the country when he walks on to the ground in the first match. Tamim argued that there is no extra-excitement for this landmark. He added that it will be memorable only if he and the team do well in the match. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will also reach 50 Test landmark in the first Test.

“Shakib and I are going to play our 50th Test, it will be a fine achievement. If we can’t pull off anything memorable here, if there is no result, it will remain only as a number. I will try to give it my best shot, Shakib will surely do the same.” Tamim said about the landmark
