Tammy Beaumont and Marizanne Kapp involved in hilarious incident during England-South Africa clash
Coming on to chase the monumental target, South Africa put up a valiant effort but fell short of 68 runs.
We witnessed an unusual incident in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 when England met South Africa in the 13th match of the tournament. During the encounter at the Bristol City Ground, England opener Tammy Beaumont and South African bowler Marizanne Kapp shared a hilarious moment between themselves.
The score stood still at 343/4 when England’s Tammy Beaumont lost her wicket to Kapp. The batsman was making his way away from the pitch after scoring a swashbuckling century while she was being congratulated by members of the South African team. It was then when wicket taker Marizanne Kapp walked towards the centurion and jokingly tripped her leg before performing a handshake.
It looked a bit weird but both the players shared a laugh between themselves during the incident indicating that it was all done sportingly. The wicket put Kapp on a hat trick as she had picked up Natalie Sciver in the first ball of the over.
About the match:
Batting first, England put up a colossal total of 373 runs at the loss of 5 wickets from their 50 over. Tammy Beaumont was not the only star of the show with her 148 run knock, but wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor was equally brilliant with her 147 run inning. Marizanne Kapp was, however, the pick of the South African bowlers with 3 wickets to her name.
Coming on to chase the monumental target, South Africa put up a valiant effort but fell short of 68 runs. However, they managed to cross the 300 run mark as they finished their innings at 305/9. The fifties from Laura Wolvaardt, Lizelle Lee and Chloe Tryon were the highlights of the South African batting. Danielle Hazell of England had a good time with the ball as she picked up 3 wickets in her 10 overs giving away 70 runs.
The England team now stands at the third position in the table with 6 points while the South Africans remain just behind them with 5.
