The National anthem controversy has been around the corner in the recent few months in India. Earlier in the month, Supreme Court of India passed a legal notification that it is not mandatory for Indian citizens to stand for the national anthem when played at the cinema hall. Further, the apex court said that it is not a legal offence.

Supreme Court’s verdict had the netizens divided in fighting against each other, with celebrities part of the social media battle. Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir was also part of the divided netizens over the topic. The southpaw took to Twitter to express his opinion, in disappointment with the verdict by drawing parallels between standing outside a restaurant for a table and standing in a theatre for the national anthem.

While Gambhir has always been an ardent supporter for standing up for the Indian national anthem since the time the topic has been up for debate. With over 14,000 retweets and 37,000 likes, it seems like a lot of people find his logic more than convincing. Gambhir has previously too expressed his opinion on the same topic when the Supreme Court made it mandatory to play the national anthem at the Cinema hall mandatory.

The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper has time and again made it clear where he stands and has been a pro nationalist which has earned him a lot of popularity and backing of the right wing on social media.

Tanmay Bhat’s logical reply:

When the left-hander was still basking in glory, comedian and AIB’s co-founder Tanmay Bhat questioned the notion that Gambhir had put in earlier with a logic of his own.

Clearly, the winner of the round seemed to be the comedian, who stunned the Twitterati with another logical analogy. The reactions to the banter between the duo was huge with supporters from both sides putting up their argument.
