Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed is all set to play his first home Test series when Bangladesh lock horns with Australia in a two-match affair. Taskin aims to make this Test memorable by bowling a match-winning spell that will turn the fortunes towards Bangladesh. He further stated that his main target will be to pick up the wickets of Aussie skipper Steve Smith, the vice-captain David Warner and Matt Renshaw.

Taskin Ahmed is an integral part of the 14-member squad announced by the BCB for the first Test against Australia. He will be partnered by Mustafizur Rahman and Shafiul Islam. The 22-year-old cricketer got his first Test cap against New Zealand earlier this year. He has featured in 4 Tests for Bangladesh ever since.

What Taskin had to say:

“I don’t say that match-winning spell means taking five to seven wickets. I will like to bowl some good overs instead of that. As like, our spinners may take seven wickets and in the middle, I may pick two wickets. I really want to do something for the team that will help the team,’ Taskin said.

Speaking about his colleague Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin stated that the team has great expectations from the bowler. he admitted to the fact that ‘Fizz’ has not been up to the mark recently but claimed that this type of phase comes in every cricketer’s life.

“We always expect much from Mustafiz. He fulfilled the expectations as well. It is true that he was not up to the mark in the last few matches. The greatest bowlers of the world also could not bowl well in two-three matches,” added the bowler.

“We are not worried about that. I hope he will come back strong. We also have many responsibilities against Australia,” he added. “Australia is one of the best teams in the world. But we understand the surface very well than them as it is well known to us. I hope we will do well in the series,’

“The pleasure I got bowling in New Zealand didn’t feel in the same way in Sri Lanka. I haven’t played a Test match yet in Bangladesh. I think Test cricket is a matter of great patience and skills. I hope good things are coming ahead,” he added.

Taskin expressed his excitement ahead of playing his first Test at home. He mentioned that the team has to perform according to plan to be successful.

“To be honest, I didn’t play many Test matches. I find it really difficult after playing only four Test matches. I played only One-Day Internationals and Twenty20s before starting to play in Test matches.” said Ahmed.

“You have [to] play Test matches according to a plan. It is really important to implement change of pace. I hope that we can play according to the situation. I am looking forward to playing at home soil,” Taskin concluded.
