The landscape of England’s ODI cricket has been drastically changed since the 2015 World Cup. From being in tatters since being knocked out by Bangladesh in the group stage, England have become the No. 1 ranked ODI side over the last four years. After the debacle in Trans-Tasman, they overhauled the whole set-up and stuck with it regardless of the results which has worked wonders for them.

Fast forward to 2018, the Brits have beaten sides like Australia, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand since then and all look set to grab their first ever World Cup on their home soil.

England, without doubt, have got the goods to create history, however, their batting order can crumble under pressure situations. An evidence of it was the semi-final of the Champions Trophy where they were upset by the eventual champions Pakistan. Their batsmen’s inability to adapt to conditions quickly can prove to be fatal in the big matches.

Probable squad for the World Cup: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan(c), Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler (wk), David Willey, Chris Woakes, Liam Plunkett, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, Olly Stone, Sam Curran.
