Team Director Ravi Shastri likely to give Zimbabwe tour a miss- Sources: Indian team director Ravi Shastri who has been with the team since India’s tour to Australia followed by the world cup, and is now handling the additional charge of coaching the team has probably decided to give the Zimbabwe tour a miss. Sources in the BCCI were quoted by a premier tabloid saying that Shastri had reported his unavailability to the Board even before the tour to Bangladesh.

With Shastri not being there, one of the members of the support staff, most likely Assistant Coach Sanjay Bangar would be handed over the responsibility of taking charge of the team on the tour. Ravi will join the team for the important tour to Sri Lanka tentatively scheduled in August and September this year, and it is also believed that the board is in no hurry whatsoever of appointing a coach and would instead opt to carry on with Shastri as Director till the World T20 2016 which will be hosted by India.

It also reported that the teams support staff in the likes of Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar, is also likely to get an extended roles with additional contracts for another two-year being offered to them ahead of the tour to Zimbabwe.
