Team England unimpressed with security plan leak in Chennai
The England team was left unimpressed when the security plan for the visitors was leaked in Chennai. The team is currently in Chennai playing the final Test against India. Apparently, the entire security plan for the team was found in a document of a local computer. What was worse is the fact that the document was not even password protected. The Chennai Police were in charge of making the security arrangements.
As per reports in thedailystar.net, the document titled as ‘Bandobust’ was saved on a local computer in a hotel in Chennai. One of the England fans apparently found the document. The very concerned fan wasted no time in bringing the news to the attention of the England team management staying in another hotel.
The team management soon requested the security arrangements to be changed before any unauthorized person made an exploit of the plan. All the details including the deployment of the number of guards at each level of the hotel was mentioned in the leaked document. Other key data such as the number of guards on duty, the number of security personnel with plain clothes and location of the officials in the nearby rooftop locations was also seen.
The document further elaborated the room numbers allotted to the English players and how many staff were overseeing each floor in the hotel. Clearly, had the news not come to the fore, it was vulnerable to a security breach of all sorts. The England team have had their reservations touring the subcontinent countries citing security issues.
Earlier, players had opted out of the Bangladesh tour due to security reasons. But the security in Bangladesh for the England team was highly commendable. The roads were blocked, snipers and guards were placed at all strategic locations and the team bus was heavily guarded. The visitors will now only hope that such carelessness is not repeated in the matches to follow.
