Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli got vaccinated on Monday, May 10, 2021. He posted a picture of himself taking the vaccine shot on social media. Through his post, he also tried to spread the awareness of getting vaccinated. The Delhi batsman recently returned from the Indian Premier League 2021, which got suspended indefinitely.
He returned to his home in Mumbai. On his arrival, he and his wife, Anushka Sharma made a contribution of INR 2 crores for the fight against COVID. The couple opened a relief fund for the supply of oxygen concentrators which they said is expected to raise up to INR 7 crores. The fund will be used to help the current situation of the second wave of the coronavirus.
Due to this sudden upsurge in coronavirus cases across India, there has been a lot of pressure on the healthcare system in the country. However, there has been a circulation of vaccines which has been going on, which is ensuring that all citizens are vaccinated as soon as possible. Kohli uploaded a picture of getting vaccinated on his Instagram stories and wrote, “Vaccinate as soon as you can please. Stay safe.”
Virat Kohli to fly with the Indian squad to England soon
The Indian captain will be leaving for England soon. He will be traveling within the 20-member squad which has been announced for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton followed by the five Test-match series against England. Kohli will be seen in action only on June 18 when the ICC WTC Final happens between India and New Zealand.
Kohli had a good couple of weeks in the IPL 2021. His team Royal Challengers Bangalore started their season in an emphatic fashion, winning four straight matches. However, in the next three games, they won one and lost two. Having said that, despite Kohli not being in his sublime touch, RCB managed to pull off one of their best seasons so far. He scored 198 runs from seven games, at a strike rate of 121.47.
There hasn’t been any official news on when the Indian team will leave for England. But, it has been planned that the squad will play a couple of intra-squad matches before the ICC WTC final. There will be a strict quarantine period as well, hence the players could leave for England in a week or two.
