India’s young fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah once again proved that he is one of the best limited-overs bowlers. The 23-year-old helped India win the final Twenty 20 International (T20I) against New Zealand bowling an outstanding final over at the Greenfield International Stadium in Trivandrum on Tuesday (November 7).

Due to Bumrah’s rapid rise in international cricket Team India head coach Ravi Shastri reckoned him as an ‘outstanding’ fast bowler. Earlier in the ODI series, Bumrah played a key role to help India win the final One-Day International (ODI) at Green Park in Kanpur. His death bowling inspired the team to win the final ODI keeping New Zealand batsmen in check.

In the final T20I of at Trivandrum due to heavy rain, the match had become an eight overs a side affair. India batting first scored 67 while New Zealand fell 6 runs short and eventually the hosts lifted the T20I trophy as well.

Bumrah claims Player of the Series award

Bumrah picked up two wickets for nine runs in two overs. He won the Man of the Match award as well as the Player of the Series awards for his outstanding performances. Under the crunch situations, Bumrah has delivered some beautiful deliveries. It has become a habit for him to bowl under pressure situations. He holds his nerve to win the final moment of the match.

As he has been enjoying an overwhelming success, head coach Ravi Shastri heaped praise on him, the former Indian all-rounder called him the right-arm pacer “outstanding”.

“Outstanding temperament. He (Bumrah) has got all the tools of the trade. What he has shown over the years is not just the skill, he has got the upper storey (brain) which is bright. He is thinking all the time, which is very good,” Shastri said when asked whether Bumrah was the best bowler in white-ball cricket.

After the win, Bumrah said, “It was a good day. Slower delivery was gripping, so we wanted to stick to a basic plan. I and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) had a chat with the innings. After watching the first innings, we saw them bowling slower deliveries, but our balls weren’t gripping, so we had to bowl it back of a length and mix them with yorkers. I wasn’t thinking too much, just focusing on every ball and on executing them.”

Since his debut in international cricket, the pacer continues to make his mark in international cricket. However, he is yet to play Test cricket and is expected to play the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka.
