The 8th edition of the tournament was the first one to be played in the 21st century. The African nations, South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe hosted the event and the Kangaroos retained their title. The jersey design was upgraded to a new level as most of the teams had striking patterns. The Indian team used the tri-colour of the flag for the first time in their attire.

The Men in Blue introduced black patches which mostly ran across the side part and the shoulder part of the jersey. The tri-colour was planted diagonally and it looked like an oil painting. The collar of the t-shirt consisted of a miniature version of the Indian flag and the Sahara logo continued its presence. The new attire became very popular among the audience.
