India U19 World Cup victory's eye-catching celebration explained
The team was involved in a unique celebration and it looked as if it was inspired by the famous FIFA 18 game.
Team India beat Australia in the U-19 World Cup finals to clinch the prestigious trophy. India went into the tournament as the hot favorites and lived up to everyone’s expectations. Chasing down a target of 217 in the mega final, they got across the line comfortably in just 38.5 overs. Indian opener Manjot Kalra was the top performer in the match scoring an unbeaten hundred, something that eventually won him the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Shubman Gill, who is the second leading run-scorer in the tournament was awarded the ‘Player of the Series’. Gill managed to score at least a half-century in every match that he played except for the finals. Gill who had a good start to his innings got out on 31 in the 22nd over of the innings.
Fifa-styled celebration by the team
Moreover, this is the fourth time that India lifted the U-19 World Cup, the previous three times being in 2000, 2008, and 2012, under the leadership of Mohammed Kaif, Virat Kohli, and Unmukt Chand respectively. Also, they managed to reach the finals of the tournament last time in 2016. But they failed to clinch the title back then.
The Indian team looked thrilled with the victory and everyone ran out to the pitch after the winning runs were hit. They were involved in a unique celebration and it looked as if it was inspired by the famous FIFA 18 game. The cricketers did the ‘Hypnosis’ celebration as it can be seen from the video below. We saw Prithvi Shaw gather his team-mates and put them under his spell, before knocking them all to the floor with his ‘telekinetic’ powers.
Team India’s member, Abhishek Varma confirmed the inspiration for the celebration later on. “We have dreamt of this from last year and finally here we are. On top of the world,” said Abhishek Sharma after the match. “It’s very grateful to be a part of this team. I can’t explain my feelings right now. We’ll celebrate this night, the best night of ours,” he said.
