India’s head coach Ravi Shastri is a favorite target of trolls. The 57-year-old, who recently bagged his second stint, is often roasted over his pictures on the social media, especially those related to drinking. Shastri’s drinking habits are often mocked by the Twitterati though that doesn’t deter him from sharing the posts. The trolling also continues, hence.

Though the Indian team’s exploits on grounds around the world have been magnificent over the last two years or so, Shastri hasn’t been as fortunate in getting the pat on his back as like the players. It is under his tutelage and the captaincy of Virat Kohli that India beat South Africa in their own den in ODIs, England in T20Is and Australia in Tests.

They also made the semi-finals of the World Cup with a dominating performance before losing the semi-final to New Zealand. A member of India’s World Cup-winning squad of 1983, Shastri has also courted controversies with his periodic remarks.

On Sunday, ahead of India’s first T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala that eventually got abandoned because of rain without a single ball being bowled, Shastri posted a picture with ace Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan. In the picture, the duo is seen having a conversation over coffee. “Coffee, Mountains, Cricket and Conversation – with @SDhawan25 ????????,” Shastri captioned the picture from the picturesque ground.

The Twitterati didn’t spare a moment in lashing out at the Indian head coach. The trolls mostly slammed the former cricketer over his coffee with many suggesting that the cup actually had alcohol content than the beverage.

Here are some reactions that the Twitterati came up with:

Dhawan under pressure to perform

Dhawan, on the other hand, is under pressure to perform. The dashing southpaw had a great start to the World Cup but a thumb injury saw him going out of the tournament. He returned to the team during the West Indies tour but failed to produce anything magical. He hit two back-to-back fifties for India ‘A’ against South Africa ‘A’ in Thiruvananthapuram recently and now the Indian team expects the 33-year-old to deliver in the T20I series against SA.
