Team India's manager sends his report to the CoA on the Kohli-Kumble feud
Does Kapil Malhotra's silence on this entire scenario mean that he supported Kohli in his mission to get a new coach?
Indian cricket team’s manager Kapil Malhotra has apparently sent a report to the Committee of Administrators (CoA), that is currently taking charge of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The one’s who’ve seen this report say that it was about the spat between Anil Kumble and skipper Virat Kohli, which eventually led to the former quitting his job.
Kapil has stayed quite during the entire inquiry saga about the conflict between the captain and the coach, if the report which he submitted is to be believed. The CoA is about to discuss Mr. Malhotra’s report today when they meet in Mumbai.
This indeed is quite astonishing as the former coach himself mentioned in his letter to the fans that he and the skipper had some misunderstandings. A Mumbai Mirror report questioned if Kapil Malhotra’s silence on this entire scenario is an indication that he supported Kohli in his mission to get a new coach.
A “Stringent” disciplinarian
The causes for conflict between Kohli and Kumble is said to be the stringent approach from the latter when it comes to dealing with players’ practice sessions and various other things. Kohli & Co. were apparently unhappy with the strict environment that surrounded the side due to Kumble’s head masterly attitude.
The 132 Test veteran after quitting his job said that he always focused on giving his 100% for the side and bringing the most out of the players. Various experts lashed out hard on the Indian captain and the rest of the team saying the players who can’t deal with Kumble should leave the side, not Kumble himself.
But Malhotra airbrushing all these allegations and anecdotes is scarcely believable. The manager of the side, who quite evidently must’ve seen this entire fiasco sitting in the best seat possible, has submitted a report which barely spoke anything remarkable about the entire row is bound raise a lot of eyebrows.
When the CoA does discuss his report today, they will also touch upon the various other aspects like the implementation of Lodha Committee‘s reforms. The Supreme Court will hear the case on July 14 and the CoA will also take updates on appointments of permanent manager for the Indian team and NCA director.
