The fans distinctly remember the unveiling of the jersey the last time India was gearing up to the play the 50-over World Cup. A month ahead of the 2015 World Cup, Team India and the official kit sponsors Nike had unveiled the jersey in a stunning manner. The players were standing on the roof of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground wearing the new jersey, sending the fans into a frenzy.
Well, the fans can expect another surprise from Team India and Nike as a new jersey ahead of the upcoming ICC World Cup is all set to be launched. Keeping with the tradition of launching the jersey in the World Cup year, the sponsors are reportedly set to unveil it on March 1 in Hyderabad, just a day before the forthcoming five-match ODI series against Australia which means the fans will have a chance of seeing the players donning the jersey on the field even before the World Cup.
In 2015, India had unveiled the jersey before the tri-series featuring Australia and England and had gone on to wear the new jersey during that very series even before the World Cup. The quadrennial event will get underway on May 30 with hosts England locking horns against South Africa in the tournament opener. India, on the other hand, will open their campaign on June 5 against the Proteas.

Kohli’s warning for his teammates
Meanwhile, ahead of the much-awaited World Cup, India skipper Virat Kohli has warned his teammates to stay careful while playing the IPL. The skipper feels that playing too much of T20s could see bad habits creep in ahead of the 50-over World Cup. He also advised the players to take games off during the gruelling tournament if their teams are already in a good place.
“All the people who are going to be part of the World Cup squad, they have to make sure that their games don’t go too much away from the one-day mould of things,” Kohli said ahead of the first T20I against Australia. “That means we will have to be very wary of the bad habits that might creep in during the IPL.
“The amount you practice, with the amount of travel during the IPL and the number of games in different conditions, in different temperatures, it is going to be challenging, to be honest. But as a cricketer, you have to map out how many practice sessions you really need. If you are hitting the ball well, there is no need to go to a practice session and tire yourself out for three hours whereas you can utilise that particular phase to rest and recover even more,” he added.
