Team India will be subject to a performance appraisal following their losses in overseas Test series earlier this year. The meeting for the same has been scheduled for October 10 and 11. Despite two back to back away series losses against South Africa and England, India returned to their own backyard and registered a thumping innings and 272-run win over the Windies, thus taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

The Windies had no answers to India’s spinners, who made light work of their batting line-up as they tried to match the hosts’ first innings score of 649. Kraigg Brathwaite’s side suffered a humiliating defeat inside three days.

However, India, currently the no.1 Test team in the world, haven’t been able to match their expectations as far as their overseas performances are concerned. Nevertheless, the head coach Ravi Shastri has insisted that the current Indian team is the best travelling side the world has seen in the last 15-20 years. Earlier this year, India lost the three-Test series in South Africa 2-1, and then went on to lose the five-match rubber in England 1-4.

Kohli, Rahane and Shastri to be present at the meeting

After the second Test against the Windies in Hyderabad, India will take on the visitors in a limited-overs series, following which they will travel to Australia for a lengthy series, the Test matches being the most awaited contest of the year. Prior to that, the BCCI’s Committee of Administrators (CoA) will hold the Indian team’s performance appraisal to take stock of the situation.

According to a report in The Indian Express on Sunday, the meeting is scheduled for October 10 and 11 before the second Test against the Windies gets underway.

“The CoA will have a discussion with the team management. It’s stock-taking of the team’s tours of South Africa, England and Dubai [for the Asia Cup]. This is a performance analysis meeting of the overseas tours. Captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, head coach Ravi Shastri will be there. Chief selector MSK Prasad, too, will be present,” a source was quoted as saying in the report.

The CoA, having taken note of the Indian team’s performance this year, communicated to the head coach that the Indian team’s defeat in the England series was “unacceptable”.
