9. Deepak Chahar (Mohammed Shami)
Deepak Chahar was given a Golden opportunity to establish himself as a first-choice bowler during the series against Australia given that Bhuvneshwar was injured, while Natarajan was just making his debut. However, he wasn’t able to do that and has now been relegated to the bench.
He has the ability to swing the ball both ways and when in form, he is definitely one of the world’s best swing bowlers. He is best utilized if three of his overs come during the powerplay. Chahar has also been working hard on his death bowling and has shown signs of progression in that area as well.
In 13 T20Is for India, he has picked up 18 wickets at a strike rate of 15.6 while having an economy of just 7.56. He also broke the record for best figures in T20Is when he picked up 6/7 against Bangladesh. All in all, he is a very good bowler and will surely be a part of the squad for the World Cup unless something drastic happens.
