Team meetings used to happen just to discuss how to get Sachin Tendulkar out: Nasser Hussain

Sachin Tendulkar, during his playing career, was a nightmare to the opposition team. He was technically strong and once set, was almost impossible dislodge thanks to his immense concentration. No wonder the opposition teams used to specifically come up with a strategy for the master blaster. They knew then that the half of the Indian team would crumble if they get Sachin out.

However, more often than not, the cricketer from Mumbai didn’t budge to the opponents’ tactics and single-handedly won matches for India. Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain has recalled the time when he was the captain and how the team used to have meetings only to discuss about how to get Sachin Tendulkar out.

Nasser also termed Sachin as the one with the most sorted technique when it comes to batting as he scored runs all across the world. “Overall when I talk about all-time batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar had a magnificent technique. When I was England skipper, I cannot remember how many team meetings we used to have just to discuss how to get Tendulkar out

“For me, the technique is getting runs in all parts of the world, and I like someone who plays with soft hands and lets the ball come to him,” he said while speaking to Ian Bishop and Elma Smit in the latest episode of ICC podcast titled ‘Cricket Inside Out’.

Moreover, Nasser Hussain also went on to add that he likes New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson‘s technique from the batsmen of current era. He highlighted the way the Kiwi batsman lets the ball come to him and plays it under his eyes thereby perfectly executing a stroke. He lauded Williamson for adapting to all three formats of the game without changing much of his technique.

Kane Williamson for me has a very good technique in the current era, he plays the ball late with soft hands. As a result of T20 cricket, players in the modern game play with hard hands, Williamson can play all three formats and can adapt his game to each,” the 52-year-old added.
