Virat Kohli, the Delhi-born right-handed batsman, has been an integral part of the Indian team ever since he made his debut in 2008 and has only grown in stature ever since. His recent form across all the formats is worth envying. Amidst India’s abysmal batting performances in England recently, the 29-year-old weaved his magic to torment the formidable Three Lions’ bowling lineup.
He finished as the leading run scorer of the series with 593 runs in the five matches. However, bearing in mind, the Indian captain’s workload over the last few months, he has been rested for the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Nevertheless, despite being out of the team, Virat is pretty concerned about the Men in Blue. Subsequently, he sent his wishes for the national team.
The 29-year-old cricketer took to Twitter and wrote, “Here’s wishing Team India a super series at the Asia Cup. #Meninblue #AsiaCup2018 @BCCI.”

A challenging road for India
Right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma, who didn’t play the five-match Test series against the Brits, has been appointed as the skipper. The 31-year-old previously captained India against Sri Lanka last year. As far as the multi-nation tournament is concerned, India are placed in Group A along with Hong Kong and Pakistan and are expectantly touted to be amongst the firm favourites to win the 50-overs championship.
Rohit’s men will lock horns with Anshuman Rath and Co today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to start their campaign. Thereafter, they will face their arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue tomorrow itself. India are the most successful team in the tournament having won the same six out of 13 times and they are also the defending champions having won the event back in 2016, defeating Bangladesh in Dhaka.
