Test cricket returned to its best in 2021 with so many amazing series and so many runs and wickets. Some batters were exceptional throughout the year while some bowlers had a year to forget. The ultimate format was full of action and stiff competition.

The longest format of the game also saw the inaugural ICC World Test Championship in 2021. This was the first title of the format. In order to reach the finals, the hustle of every team was a treat to watch. New Zealand became the first-ever champions of the title defeating India at the finals.

The tall fast baller from Auckland and has proved his worth for the Kiwi side. Since his debut, he has always been in the headlines due to his consistent good performances at the international level. Everyone knows how good he is with the ball but he showed his batting talent too this year.

He played five Test matches this year and scored 105 runs in seven innings with a 30* at a crucial stage when his side needed him the most. With the ball, he picked 27 wickets in 10 innings of the five-Test matches with the bowling average of17.51 and had three five-fors and one ten-wicket haul to his name in 2021.

At the height of 6’8”, he is one of the tallest cricketers in the current lot. He was exceptional in the series in India where he got a bounce from the pitch where there was no help for the pacers. The 26 years old pacer was a key to the success of the Blackcaps this year.
