As the IPL nears its tenth season, teams are busy practising ahead of the iconic tournament. Strategies are being built by each franchise to create a concrete plan of winning the 46-day extravaganza. The IPL has been a household name and attracts excellent viewership not just in India, but overseas as well since it became a regular fixture of Indian cricketing calendar since 2008. The format of T20 is such that it offers a lot of entertainment for cricket lovers all across the world.

As the tournament is just 2 days away, every franchise has already decided upon which jersey they are going in with into the tournament. A few teams are going in with the same jersey they played with last year and top franchises – Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rising Pune Supergiant have unveiled new jerseys for this years’ IPL. Crowned champions twice – once in 2012 then again in 2014, the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise is by far the most glamorous team in the IPL. Having been qualified to the Playoff last year, by way of finishing 4th in the points table, KKR failed to get past eventual champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator held at Delhi last year and hence were knocked out of the tournament. Skipper Gautam Gambhir, who is known to lead from the front, will look to have a better outing this year especially after acquiring big players in the auction earlier this year.

KKR started the IPL with a complete black and tinges of a gold jersey in 2008 and were seen in a purple-golden black jersey until last year. This time though they have gone in with a shade of yellow with purple as the base colour. It remains to be seen if the new jersey will bring a change of luck as far as their performances are concerned.

On the sixth anniversary of India’s World Cup triumph, Mumbai Indians revealed their new jersey for the upcoming tournament. While the base colour of the franchise has always been blue, they introduced golden stripes on the borders post-2010 followed by a zip instead of the usual button in 2011. The jersey for this year is similar to the last one but it has a unique sublimation pattern. The colours remain the same as they have been since for a few years now.

Mumbai Indians breathed a sigh of relief when their skipper Rohit Sharma was deemed fit to take part in this year’s IPL. ‘Hitman’ as he is famously known as has been out of action for five months. He will be looking to strike form early in the tournament in his team&#8217;s bid of conquering the IPL for a record third time. Mumbai Indians support staff is the best in the business with the likes of legendary India batsman, Sachin Tendulkar current India coach, Anil Kumble; and former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting present in their ranks.

Injuries rocked Daredevils camp early when the South African pair – De Kock and JP Duminy – was ruled out of the tournament last month. Team mentor Dravid said that it was “unfortunate” to miss out on the duo, especially De Kock who buckled up with the wicket-keeping duties. Daredevils had a disconsolate season last year as they finished sixth on the table consequently failing to qualify for the Playoffs. An IPL title has always eluded them in their 9-year history of the tournament and Daredevils would want to have a shot at the trophy this time around.

In their first press conference of the season, which was also attended by skipper Zaheer Khan, Australia and South African fast bowlers: Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada, Delhi Daredevils launched their new team jersey. The jersey is almost a replica of the previous one with a slight difference of design. The colours remain exactly the same. Daredevils will play their first game of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 8.

The David Warner-led defending champions took to social media website twitter to inform their fans about their new jersey for the upcoming season. The colour of their outfit remains same – orange base along with black borders. They have added another stripe between those two colours which is a very light shade of orange. That stripe also appears on the collarbone of their jersey. The Sunrisers fans will be delighted that the franchise hasn’t tinkered much with their colours as they won the previous tournament with the same colours.

The curtain-raiser of the IPL-10 will see the finalists of last year lock horns with each other. Sunrisers will have the home advantage against a depleted RCB side – as they will be without their regular skipper Virat Kohli, who is nursing a shoulder injury; though they boost of a certain Chris Gayle in their ranks. ‘Well begun is half done’ as they say and both teams will look to start the season well.

Rising Pune Supergiant was in the news for axing their regular captain MS Dhoni, who arguably is the most successful captain in the world with all possible trophies in his kitty, for the Australian Steve Smith. They presaged to be a side to beat when they procured English all-rounder Ben Stokes for a record amount of 14.5 crores, the most for an overseas cricketer this year. Pune will be looking to put aside the horrors of last season, where they languished towards the bottom of the table, and start afresh this year.

Recently CEO of Supergiant, Raghu Iyer; along with the new captain, Steve Smith; Indian vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane; and all-rounder Ben Stokes unveiled their sides new jersey for IPL 2017. Gujarat Lion’s coach Brad Hodge recently landed in a soup, when he tweeted about Kohli skipping the Dharamsala Test in a bid to get fit in time for the IPL. He later apologised about his harsh words. Their premier bowler and world No. 1 Test bowler- Ravindra Jadeja was then asked to take a two-week break by the BCCI citing burnout after the long season. Not the ideal start Gujarat wanted coming into the new season. They will be looking to put this behind and work towards their goal of achieving their maiden IPL-title.

Gujarat Lions were incepted last year when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were handed a two-year ban. Suresh Raina was appointed the captain and he did a great job, leading them to the top of the table at the end of the group stages. Gujarat failed to qualify for the finals after they lost both qualifiers against RCB and Sunrisers. Gujarat Lions will don the same jerseys as they did last year and will be hoping to produce the same performances sans the Qualifiers.

The team jersey did not change for Kings XI Punjab this season but they would be hoping for a change in performance this year. In a heart-wrecking performance, last season – where they finished last in the points table – Punjab lost 10 out of their 14 league games. Despite their poor showings last year, Kings XI has always been a team to look out for in the IPL. With the presence of power-hitters like Glenn Maxwell and David Miller, Punjab does not lack in firepower as far as batting is concerned.

Murali Vijay looks set to miss this year’s IPL. He was the skipper last year but was replaced by Glenn Maxwell for this season last month. It will be interesting to see if captaincy changes Maxwell’s style of batsmanship – which, like their coach Sehwag, relies more on see ball-hit ball technique. Punjab will start their campaign against Rising Pune Supergiant on April 8 at Indore. They will be looking to bring home the elusive IPL title this time around.

RCB has been one of the most popular sides of the IPL yet they have failed to win the title in the preceding 9 seasons. They have featured in as many as 3 finals but have failed to set the stage alight when it mattered the most. RCB has been marred by injuries in the lead up to the season. The captain and the wicket keeper – Kohli and KL Rahul – have been sidelined with injuries. While Rahul will miss the entire season, Kohli is expected to miss at least the first 10 days of the tournament before he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Crowned champions twice – once in 2012 then again in 2014, the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise is by far the most glamorous team in the IPL. Having been qualified to the Playoff last year, by way of finishing 4th in the points table, KKR failed to get past eventual champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator held at Delhi last year and hence were knocked out of the tournament. Skipper Gautam Gambhir, who is known to lead from the front, will look to have a better outing this year especially after acquiring big players in the auction earlier this year.
KKR started the IPL with a complete black and tinges of a gold jersey in 2008 and were seen in a purple-golden black jersey until last year. This time though they have gone in with a shade of yellow with purple as the base colour. It remains to be seen if the new jersey will bring a change of luck as far as their performances are concerned.
Mumbai Indians:

On the sixth anniversary of India’s World Cup triumph, Mumbai Indians revealed their new jersey for the upcoming tournament. While the base colour of the franchise has always been blue, they introduced golden stripes on the borders post-2010 followed by a zip instead of the usual button in 2011. The jersey for this year is similar to the last one but it has a unique sublimation pattern. The colours remain the same as they have been since for a few years now.
Mumbai Indians breathed a sigh of relief when their skipper Rohit Sharma was deemed fit to take part in this year’s IPL. ‘Hitman’ as he is famously known as has been out of action for five months. He will be looking to strike form early in the tournament in his team&#8217;s bid of conquering the IPL for a record third time. Mumbai Indians support staff is the best in the business with the likes of legendary India batsman, Sachin Tendulkar current India coach, Anil Kumble; and former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting present in their ranks.
Delhi Daredevils:

Injuries rocked Daredevils camp early when the South African pair – De Kock and JP Duminy – was ruled out of the tournament last month. Team mentor Dravid said that it was “unfortunate” to miss out on the duo, especially De Kock who buckled up with the wicket-keeping duties. Daredevils had a disconsolate season last year as they finished sixth on the table consequently failing to qualify for the Playoffs. An IPL title has always eluded them in their 9-year history of the tournament and Daredevils would want to have a shot at the trophy this time around.
In their first press conference of the season, which was also attended by skipper Zaheer Khan, Australia and South African fast bowlers: Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada, Delhi Daredevils launched their new team jersey. The jersey is almost a replica of the previous one with a slight difference of design. The colours remain exactly the same. Daredevils will play their first game of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 8.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:

The David Warner-led defending champions took to social media website twitter to inform their fans about their new jersey for the upcoming season. The colour of their outfit remains same – orange base along with black borders. They have added another stripe between those two colours which is a very light shade of orange. That stripe also appears on the collarbone of their jersey. The Sunrisers fans will be delighted that the franchise hasn’t tinkered much with their colours as they won the previous tournament with the same colours.
The curtain-raiser of the IPL-10 will see the finalists of last year lock horns with each other. Sunrisers will have the home advantage against a depleted RCB side – as they will be without their regular skipper Virat Kohli, who is nursing a shoulder injury; though they boost of a certain Chris Gayle in their ranks. ‘Well begun is half done’ as they say and both teams will look to start the season well.
Rising Pune Supergiant:

Rising Pune Supergiant was in the news for axing their regular captain MS Dhoni, who arguably is the most successful captain in the world with all possible trophies in his kitty, for the Australian Steve Smith. They presaged to be a side to beat when they procured English all-rounder Ben Stokes for a record amount of 14.5 crores, the most for an overseas cricketer this year. Pune will be looking to put aside the horrors of last season, where they languished towards the bottom of the table, and start afresh this year.
Recently CEO of Supergiant, Raghu Iyer; along with the new captain, Steve Smith; Indian vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane; and all-rounder Ben Stokes unveiled their sides new jersey for IPL 2017. While the colours remain largely unchanged, the new logo of the franchise – which was recently changed along with the name of the franchise, sits at the centre of the jersey. The logo of RPS’s sponsors, which they also announced while unveiling their new jersey, was also placed in the centre of the jersey.
Gujarat Lions:

Gujarat Lion’s coach Brad Hodge recently landed in a soup, when he tweeted about Kohli skipping the Dharamsala Test in a bid to get fit in time for the IPL. He later apologised about his harsh words. Their premier bowler and world No. 1 Test bowler- Ravindra Jadeja was then asked to take a two-week break by the BCCI citing burnout after the long season. Not the ideal start Gujarat wanted coming into the new season. They will be looking to put this behind and work towards their goal of achieving their maiden IPL-title.
Gujarat Lions were incepted last year when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were handed a two-year ban. Suresh Raina was appointed the captain and he did a great job, leading them to the top of the table at the end of the group stages. Gujarat failed to qualify for the finals after they lost both qualifiers against RCB and Sunrisers. Gujarat Lions will don the same jerseys as they did last year and will be hoping to produce the same performances sans the Qualifiers.
Kings XI Punjab:

The team jersey did not change for Kings XI Punjab this season but they would be hoping for a change in performance this year. In a heart-wrecking performance, last season – where they finished last in the points table – Punjab lost 10 out of their 14 league games. Despite their poor showings last year, Kings XI has always been a team to look out for in the IPL. With the presence of power-hitters like Glenn Maxwell and David Miller, Punjab does not lack in firepower as far as batting is concerned.
Murali Vijay looks set to miss this year’s IPL. He was the skipper last year but was replaced by Glenn Maxwell for this season last month. It will be interesting to see if captaincy changes Maxwell’s style of batsmanship – which, like their coach Sehwag, relies more on see ball-hit ball technique. Punjab will start their campaign against Rising Pune Supergiant on April 8 at Indore. They will be looking to bring home the elusive IPL title this time around.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:

RCB has been one of the most popular sides of the IPL yet they have failed to win the title in the preceding 9 seasons. They have featured in as many as 3 finals but have failed to set the stage alight when it mattered the most. RCB has been marred by injuries in the lead up to the season. The captain and the wicket keeper – Kohli and KL Rahul – have been sidelined with injuries. While Rahul will miss the entire season, Kohli is expected to miss at least the first 10 days of the tournament before he recovers from a shoulder injury.
RCB did not change their jersey for this season. They will flaunt the same one that they used for the last season. They will be hoping that their skipper gets back on the field as quickly as possible. Their bowling looked a little thin and this is the reason they got Tymal Mills in their ranks. He will be expected to lead their bowling attack in the tournament.
Another gruelling yet entertaining season of the IPL awaits us. There will be a few new stars emerging out of this tournament, which has been a norm of every season.
