Team-wise one player whom CSK should target in the next IPL auction
One can expect a lot of changes in the CSK side for the upcoming season.
5) Royal Challengers Bangalore – Washington Sundar
Nowadays, the city of Bangalore is humming the slogan of ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ with great zeal. And the reason is their team’s extraordinary performances in the IPL 2020. It seems that the Virat Kohli-led side is finally delivering on their promise. And now, with each passing game, they are turning into a formidable side. With that being said, they will have to iron out some of their flaws if they have to do something special in the tournament.
Much of Bangalore’s success can be attributed to their evergreen star, Ab De Villiers. Along with him, their bowling department has also been impressive. Especially the off-spinner, Washington Sundar who has done a tremendous job for the team. He has provided the captain the required control in the powerplay overs, a concern for them in all these years.
The Tamil Nadu cricketer has loads of talent. It was evident from his debut IPL season, 2017 where he played a crucial part in guiding the Pune franchise to the finals. Thereafter, in the following three seasons, he has been Bangalore’s second-best spinner behind Yuzvendra Chahal. He may not have taken bountiful wickets, but he has played different roles according to the needs of the team. But it might not be enough, as RCB might prefer Devdutt Padikkal and Navdeep Saini ahead of him in the retention list.
Such a move will be a blessing for the Super Kings. They can vie for Sundar in the auctions. And if they get him, it will add more depth to their spin department as currently, they have too many leg-spinners in the squad. The youngster can usher on his home ground. He can form the core of the Chennai team for the next decade or so. His presence will also bring the regional flavor to the team.
