By beating the top three teams, the Kings XI Punjab has made a perfect start to the second half of the IPL 2020. The team has put their campaign back on track, and now they are eyeing for that elusive playoff spot, which has been a mirage for them in the last five seasons. The return of Chris Gayle to the playing XI has certainly done the trick for them. And not to forget a couple of their youngsters who have helped the team revive their hopes.

One of them is the next-gen leg-spinner, Ravi Bishnoi. In his first season itself, the youngster has shown a lot of promise. He has been the team’s trusted option in the middle-overs by picking up crucial wickets. And sometimes he has also bowled the tough overs at the back end. In a way, the leggie has been one of Punjab’s go-to bowler in this season.

Apart from his bowling skills, the quality which has been most impressive about Bishnoi is his strong mental fortitude. He doesn’t seem to get affected when the batsmen go after him. Instead, he always looks for wickets, and it is evident from his inspiring spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sadly, even after all these performances, he might find himself in the auction pool soon. Punjab will surely bet first on the likes of Nicolas Pooran, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

If such a situation arises then, the CSK franchise should go in for him. He can be the fresh face in their spin department, which is full of old warhorses. The Super Kings can nurture him for shaping the core of their new team, post the MS Dhoni era. On top of that, Bishnoi will enjoy bowling on the slow surfaces of M. Chidambaram.
