In the 13-year history of the league, hundreds of players have participated in the T20 Championship. While many have shined in the tournament and went on to make a name for themselves, there are a few who got lost among other players and couldn&#8217;t live up to their name in the tournament.

Sri Lanka&#8217;s former limited-overs skipper Thisara Perera has been one of the favourite players of IPL franchises over the years. He has fetched a staggering amount of money from as many as six franchises in his IPL career for his big-hitting power and ability to chip in a few crucial overs for the team as a right-arm medium pacer.

Not many are aware of the fact that Thisara Perera had started his career in the Indian T20 Extravaganza with Chennai Super Kings (<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/harbhajan-singh-reveals-the-reason-why-he-didnt-take-part-for-csk-in-ipl-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CSK</a>) as he was bought by the team for US$50,000 in the auction for the 2010 edition. However, he failed to live up to his hefty paycheque and represented the Super Kings in just one game.

While Thisara Perera didn&#8217;t bat in that game, he bowled one over (which had 5 full tosses) that went for 19 runs. Unsurprisingly he was dropped from the playing XI and was released ahead of the next season. After that, he went on to play for five more teams namely Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, and Rising Pune Supergiant featuring in 37 games scoring 422 runs and scalping 31 wickets.

Former captain of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/crictracker/photos/4329919850372036" target="_blank" rel="noopener">West Indies</a> cricket team of Indian descent Shivnarine Chanderpaul is considered as one of the greatest batsmen of his era and was the first Indo-Caribbean to represent the Caribbean team in 100 games in the purest format of the game. While Shivnarine was one of the greatest Test batsmen, he couldn&#8217;t weave the same magic in the shortest format of the game.

The West Indian left-hander has played 22 T20Is between 2006 and 2010 and made 343 runs but had a strike-rate of just 98.85. He also tried his luck in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and managed to bag a contract from the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The veteran featured in just three games for the Bangalore outfit in the entire tournament in 2008 scoring just 25 runs in three innings at an average and strike-rate of 8.3 and 80.60 respectively. Australia’s right-handed top-order batsman Chris Lynn is capable of adding value to any T20 side across the globe. The batsman is the leading run-scorer in Australia’s domestic tournament, Big Bash League (<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/bbl-2020-21-registers-record-viewership-becomes-most-watched-tournament-in-league-history/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBL</a>). Thus, it may come as a surprise to many that he was benched for an entire season by the franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL.
Lynn was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for their debut season in 2013 but didn’t manage to feature in a single match that season. He was later bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2014 edition and has some stunning numbers to his name.
In 41 IPL games, he has scored 1280 runs at an average of 33.7 and strike-rate of 140.5. Meanwhile, he was released by KKR after the 2019 edition and moved to Mumbai Indians (MI) for the 2020 edition. However, the batsman couldn’t find a place in the playing XI and warmed the bench for the entire season in IPL 2020.

Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as one of the best and celebrated T20 leagues across the globe. It is renowned for giving a platform to all the talented lads whether young or experienced to showcase their talent and run their shoulders with the greats of the game.
In the 13-year history of the league, hundreds of players have participated in the T20 Championship. While many have shined in the tournament and went on to make a name for themselves, there are a few who got lost among other players and couldn&#8217;t live up to their name in the tournament.
<h3>Here is the team-wise one player you don&#8217;t know was once part of in IPL</h3>
<h3>1. Thisara Perera &#8211; CSK</h3>

Sri Lanka&#8217;s former limited-overs skipper Thisara Perera has been one of the favourite players of IPL franchises over the years. He has fetched a staggering amount of money from as many as six franchises in his IPL career for his big-hitting power and ability to chip in a few crucial overs for the team as a right-arm medium pacer.
Not many are aware of the fact that Thisara Perera had started his career in the Indian T20 Extravaganza with Chennai Super Kings (<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/harbhajan-singh-reveals-the-reason-why-he-didnt-take-part-for-csk-in-ipl-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CSK</a>) as he was bought by the team for US$50,000 in the auction for the 2010 edition. However, he failed to live up to his hefty paycheque and represented the Super Kings in just one game.
While Thisara Perera didn&#8217;t bat in that game, he bowled one over (which had 5 full tosses) that went for 19 runs. Unsurprisingly he was dropped from the playing XI and was released ahead of the next season. After that, he went on to play for five more teams namely Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, and Rising Pune Supergiant featuring in 37 games scoring 422 runs and scalping 31 wickets.

<h3>2. Shivnarine Chanderpaul &#8211; RCB</h3>

Former captain of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/crictracker/photos/4329919850372036" target="_blank" rel="noopener">West Indies</a> cricket team of Indian descent Shivnarine Chanderpaul is considered as one of the greatest batsmen of his era and was the first Indo-Caribbean to represent the Caribbean team in 100 games in the purest format of the game. While Shivnarine was one of the greatest Test batsmen, he couldn&#8217;t weave the same magic in the shortest format of the game.
The West Indian left-hander has played 22 T20Is between 2006 and 2010 and made 343 runs but had a strike-rate of just 98.85. He also tried his luck in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and managed to bag a contract from the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The veteran featured in just three games for the Bangalore outfit in the entire tournament in 2008 scoring just 25 runs in three innings at an average and strike-rate of 8.3 and 80.60 respectively. Those games didn’t come together and were scattered across the entire tournament. That was his last outing in the T20 Extravaganza.

<h3>3. Justin Langer &#8211; RR</h3>

Former Australian batsman and head coach of Australia&#8217;s cricket team Justin Langer was one of the most celebrated Test batsmen of his time. In his glorious Test career, which spanned from 1993 to 2007, Langer represented <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/bcb-likely-to-host-tri-series-against-australia-and-england-ahead-of-t20-world-cup-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Australia</a> in a whopping 105 Test fixtures amassing 7696 runs at a stunning average of 45.3.
Langer was mostly known for playing in the purest format of the game, thus it was a surprise for many cricket fans to see the veteran getting picked for IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) while trying his luck in the shortest format in the Indian T20 extravaganza.
However, the gritty left-handed opening batsman wasn&#8217;t made for T20 format as the only game in which he was added in the playing eleven in the IPL was abandoned without a ball being bowled. He featured in just one game for RR during the British Asian Cup in 2009, when the side played Middlesex in a one-off match. In that game, batting at number 5 position, Langer had scored just 1 run.

<h3>4. Cheteshwar Pujara &#8211; KKR</h3>

The backbone of India&#8217;s batting line-up in the purest format of the game, Cheteshwar Pujara is known for his ability to stand like a rock on the match field and frustrating the opposition bowlers by neither scoring plenty of runs nor giving away his wicket. Time and again, Pujara has expressed his desire for playing in the Indian Premier League but a notion has been formed that the top-order batsman isn&#8217;t made for the shortest format of the game.
While Pujara still dreams of playing in IPL and has registered his name for the upcoming auction for IPL 2021, he had represented Kolkata Knight Riders (<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/that-is-the-difference-between-kkr-and-rcb-gautam-gambhir-reacts-on-rcb-releasing-10-players/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KKR</a>) in the initial three seasons of the IPL. However, he had failed to impress and after a string of bad performances was released by the franchise.
He then went on to represent Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The right-handed batsman has featured in 30 IPL games thus far amassing 390 runs at a poor average of 20.5 and strike rate of 99.7.

<h3>5. Travis Head &#8211; DC</h3>

Australia&#8217;s left-handed middle-order batsman and a part-time spin bowler Travis Head is known for his stint with IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) that spanned from 2016 to 2017. In the two editions, he provided much-needed stability to the Bangalore outfit in the middle-order and also chipped in with a few overs with the ball.
Head had a moderate outing for <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2021-rcb-appoint-sanjay-bangar-as-batting-consultant-for-the-upcoming-season/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RCB</a> as he featured in just 10 games across two seasons scoring 205 runs at a strike-rate of 138.51 and an average of 29.3. One of the most memorable spells of his IPL journey had come in a game against Kolkata Knight Riders as he had hammered 75* off 47 balls.
As far as bowling is concerned, Travis had picked up just 2 wickets at an economy of 10.12 and an average of 40.5. However, not many are aware of the fact that the Australian all-rounder has started his journey in the T20 Extravaganza in 2015 with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) but couldn&#8217;t feature in a single game for them.

The Karnataka-born was picked by the Orange Army ahead of the 2018 edition for a staggering amount of INR 11 crores.
However, Pandey&#8217;s journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been nothing less than a roller-coaster ride. He was initially picked by Mumbai Indians in the 2008 edition but didn&#8217;t get many opportunities to represent his talent and thus moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore, which proved to be a masterstroke for the right-hander.
After establishing himself as a competent middle-order batsman he played for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab before finally moving to SRH. In 146 IPL games, Manish has garnered a whopping 3,268 runs at an average of 29.7 and strike rate of 121.7. In 2009, he had also registered himself as the first player to score a hundred in IPL.

However, as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned, Board is massively remembered for being on the receiving end when Yuvraj Singh had hit six sixes off six consecutive deliveries in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. He has played 56 T20I matches for England picking 65 wickets at an economy of 7.62.
