Teammates sang "Tujhmein rab dikhta hai" for Sachin Tendulkar after India's 2011 World Cup victory
It was a great moment for Team India and especially Sachin, who had gone through the ignominy of five consecutive World Cup heartbreaks.
The decade is about to end and it is fair to say 2nd April 2011 will forever be the greatest moment of this decade as far as cricket is concerned has got when the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Men in Blue lifted the fifty-over World Cup Trophy after a hiatus of 28 years.
It was a special moment for every Indian from all walks of life; built on 28 years of heartbreak, ignominy, humiliation 2007 World Cup] and agony. It was a moment that every Indian cricket fan- cricketers or no cricketers- every time a World Cup came along; only to see the green and gold Australian winning juggernaut crush all our dreams in disdain.
They threatened to do it again during the quarter-finals of the 2011 event but Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina ensured that it was not the case that year. It was India’s World Cup, and no was going to take away from them. And, so when MS Dhoni stroked that Brobdingnagian six off Nuwan Kulasekara to seal the deal, the emotions and expressions of our cricketers were for everyone to see and behold.
Even the ‘God’ Sachin Tendulkar was crying in jubilation. And, the Master Blaster who has often termed the 2011 World Cup win as his greatest cricketing moment, reminisced about it during an interaction with India Today. The Master Blaster said: “I thought I cried when I hugged Yuvraj (Singh) and that was the moment when I said, this is the moment, this is the reason I started playing.”

Before the 2011 World Cup, each and every team member had talked about winning the Cup for the veteran.
And, so when it did happen on the night of April 02, there were wild celebrations. There was champaign flowing in every room, people crying and hugging each other as Sachin, as he revealed to India Today even danced with his wife Anjali with his teammates singing ‘Tujhme Rab dikhta hai”
“There were all kinds of celebrations. The floor, not a single room door was shut. In every room, there was champagne flowing, loud music, celebrations. So I also danced, I normally don’t dance much. But I danced with my wife. It was the greatest moment of my life,” Tendulkar said on the fourth episode of India Today Inspiration.
