The New Year, 2016, promises to be another cracking one in international cricket. India’s limited-overs tour to Australia, the Aussies tour of New Zealand, the World T20, Pakistan’s tour to England and Australia and England’s tour to India are few of the many exciting prospects of the year. The ongoing series between England and South Africa is also producing some high-quality cricket and has been keenly followed by fans around the world. As the teams seek glory in 2016, let’s have a look at some New Year resolutions these Test teams may have thought of, albeit on a lighter note!
1. South Africa – Learn to play spin:
Such was the psychological damage of the Indian tour that even Moeen Ali appeared unplayable to the top ranked Test team, South Africa. His 7-wicket match haul gave England a huge win that further embarrassed the home team. South Africa has a clear and courageous goal this year- prepare turning tracks at home and practice as hard as possible to learn the art of playing spin to regain lost pride. Instead of a green-top the team was gifted a brownish surface at Duban unfortunately, though, the result was a 241-run drubbing. Full marks to the curator though for having the guts to continue the legacy of the Indian tour!
