Teams Conceding Most Number of Sixes in IPL 2015: Well, on a lighter note, there is an added expense in the Indian Premier League, contrary to any other Cricketing league and that is the number of balls required in the league as quite often in almost every match, we see balls getting despatched out of the park with sheer brute force. Yes, we are taking about the Big hits or the sixes in the IPL. Some teams are disciplined enough to concede less number of sixes while the bowlers of some team are way too much vulnerable for being hit out of the park. There have been a total of 692 sixes being hit in this tournament. Here goes the list of Teams Conceding Most Number of Sixes in IPL 2015 8 – DD – 79 Sixes: Delhi Daredevils 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) The Daredevils performed well in this tournament but failed to shower dominance at the crucial points of their matches which led them down on a number of occasions. Since Zaheer’s inclusion, this side has looked lethal as a bowling unit. Zaheer has bowled the most economical spell of the season when he conceded just 9 runs of his 4 overs in the match against CSK. Also, in the initial half of the tournament, Imran Tahir was somewhat priceless for them and won a few matches due to his economical bowling. 7 – RR – 80 Sixes: Rajasthan Royals 2015. But at the business end of the IPL, their destructive instinct faded away to some extent, causing their elimination in the eliminators. A side finishing off 4th in the points table even after winning their first 4 matches on a trot speaks of the lack of consistency being involved. But despite of all these, they maintained a display of disciplined bowling throughout. Also, they had the added advantage of playing their home matches on big grounds of Ahmedabad and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai which lessened the number of sixes conceded by them. 6 – SRH – 83 Sixes: SRH 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) With a bowling unit comprising of epitome bowling strengths in the likes of Steyn, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Trent Boult and Praveen Kumar is expected to be at the bottom half of this list. But due to the poor form of some of the big guns like Steyn and Ishant Sharma, the Orange Army conceded way too many sixes in the tournament. In their match against RCB, they failed to defend 81 runs in 6 overs which is least expected from such a bowling unit. And as a matter of fact, this has been a prime reason as why they haven’t managed to qualify into the play offs in this season even after reaching into a zone of comfort for the same. 5 – RCB – 85 Sixes: RCB 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) The Royal Challengers did not start off their season decently well and also for a side with the home ground being the Chinnaswamy stadium, is most likely to concede many sixes. Yet, RCB maintained things quite much well and conceded 85 sixes in 16 games. Since the inclusion of Starc, their bowling strength has been amplified to a considerable extent. A fact needs mention here. Starc has bowled 205 deliveries in this season without conceding a single six and has been hit for 4 sixes in this season. Also, in the game against RR in the eliminator, RCB did not concede even a single six in the entire innings. 4 – MI – 86 Sixes: MI 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) They are the IPL Champions. A side comprising of gigantic bowling strengths in the likes of Malinga and Harbhajan is quite much unlikely to be hit for ample sixes. But in such a short format, even the best of the game goes thrashed. MI have conceded 87 sixes out of 16 matches this season and who could forget about the match where AB de Villiers smacked the mammoth innings of 133* runs against this particular opposition. At times, MI gave away way too many runs but they have maintained a show of disciplined bowling at the death overs to a considerable extent. Lasith Malinga has bowled as many as 140 dot deliveries in this season and is third in the list. 3 – KKR – 90 Sixes: Kolkata Knight Riders 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) The Knights have been one of the most disciplined sides when it comes to bowling for the past couple of seasons but this season has been an exception to it. Bowling led the team down at times and also their main strength, Narine hasn’t fired much in this season which led to such disastrous conclusion. They have failed to defend high totals and their bowlers went for plenty this season. 2 – KXIP – 91 Sixes: Kings XI Punjab 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) This has been quite much of a nightmare alike season for them. And this portrays a reason behind them finishing at the bottom of the table. Their bowling has not been upto the mark. The likes of Mitchell Johnson have been swaggered considerably which led the team down. In the match against RCB at the Chinnaswamy stadium, they conceded as many as 18 sixes which is simply shameful in brief. 1 – CSK – 98 Sixes: CSK 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) Well, this team bowled decently this year except the final, where the conceded 12 sixes. They have conceded these many sixes after playing in for 17 matches this season. Bravo and Nehra have been the pick of the bowlers for them with 46 wickets being taken jointly by them. In fact, Ashish Nehra has bowled the most number of dot deliveries for them with 161 dot deliveries so far. They have restricted their opposition under moderate totals at times. But at some points, their spinners in the likes of Jadeja and Negi went way too much expensive.
