Teamwise leading run scorer in ODIs: Throughout the years, we have witnessed a number of Cricketing teams in the international sphere of the game who dominated for periods of time. And as a fuel to such dominance, there existed or rather exist some of the greatest players of the game who have been the trump cards for their respective teams. Some players took their country’s name to high standards by their glorious batting abilities. There have been players like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and many others who took their country’s stature to a whole new level. To loiter around such aspects, here is the list of the Teamwise leading run scorer in ODIs: 10. Bangladesh – Tamim Iqbal, 4713 Runs: Tamim Iqbal. He has instrumental contributions with the bat and in 153 ODIs so far, Tamim averages 31.63 and has scored a total of 6 centuries and 32 half-centuries for Bangladesh. Out of 161 ODIs, Bell averages over 37 and has 4 ODI centuries coupled with 35 half centuries. Though struggling a bit with his test form, Bell has more often been at the top of his game in limited overs cricket. 8. Zimbabwe – Andy Flower, 6786 Runs: Andy Flower Zimbabawe. In 213 ODIs, he scored 6786 runs at an average of over 35 and scored 4 centuries coupled with 55 half centuries. The elder of the Flower brothers had undoubtedly instrumental contributions with the bat. 7. New Zealand – Stephen Fleming, 8037 Runs: Stephen Fleming. He was the skipper who revolutionized the team of New Zealand and himself contributed to much of the strength of the team by opening the innings for them. In 280 ODIs, Fleming scored a total of 8 ODI centuries and 49 half centuries compiling into 8037 runs. 6. West Indies – Brian Lara, 10405 Runs: Brian Lara. (© Getty Images) The former skipper of the West Indian line up, the ecstatic stroke player of the ball, Brian Charles Lara scored a total of 10405 runs in ODIs with a total of 19 ODI centuries and 63 half centuries in 299 ODIs. The left-handed batsman had the distinct class and watching him bat, scoring those tons was simply a treat for the eyes. Lara did take the batting standards of West Indies to a whole new level. 5. He stands as the 7th highest run scorer in ODIs with 11579 runs. He was one of the most consistent batsmen of the South African line up and in 328 ODIs, he averages over 44 which is simply ecstatic. Also, he possesses 17 international centuries alongside 86 half centuries by his name. 4. Pakistan – Inzamam-ul-Haq, 11739 Runs: Inzamam-ul-Haq. (© Getty Images) The former Pakistani captain, the ecstatic leader leads the chart for them with 11739 runs in 378 ODIs at an average of over 39 with 10 ODI centuries coupled with 83 half centuries. Inzamam was one of the most reliable pros of the Pakistani line up in the ODIs and won the game for them on a number of times in quite a single-handed fashion. 3. Australia – Ricky Ponting, 13704 Runs: Ricky Ponting Australia. (© Getty Images) Coming next into the list is the former Australian captain, the master of 30 ODI centuries. Punter had been instrumental for the Australians at number three position. In 375 ODIs, he scored a total of 13704 runs at an average of 42.03. Also, he was the first captain to win the World Cup twice on successive occasions. 2. Sri Lanka – Kumar Sangakkara, 14234 Runs: Kumar Sangakkara. In 404 ODIs, Sangakkara scored a total of 25 ODI centuries coupled with 93 half centuries. Though Sanga can be termed one of the best to have played for the island country, but unfortunately, Sangakkara had to retire from ODIs on a rather sad note in the quarter-final of 2015 World Cup after Sri Lanka’s defeat. 1. India – Sachin Tendulkar, 18426 Runs: Sachin Tendulkar. (© Getty Images) The Master Blaster, the holder of a sea of records tops the list with a monstrous amount of 18426 runs in his ODI career of 463 matches. No words are apt to describe the degree of the genius of this batsman and thus, quite expectedly, Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run scorer not only for India but also the topmost run scorer of the world in ODIs.
