Thampi can execute yorkers very consistently: Dinesh Karthik

Veteran Indian batsman, Dinesh Karthik, feels that the young pacer Basil Thampi has the right ammunition to succeed at the highest level of the game. Thampi has been drafted in the Indian team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He had his claim to fame in the IPL this year where he had turned up for the Gujarat Lions. As per the quotes in India TV news, Dinesh Karthik remarked that Thampi has the ability to bowl yorkers consistently.

Moreover, he has a very good slower ball too. This makes him an ideal choice to succeed in the shortest format of the game. Thampi was seen bowling to the likes of MS Dhoni in the optional practice session of the Indian team at Cuttack before the first T20I.

“He’s a very, very good talent. He’s sharp, he bowls quick and is somebody who can execute yorkers very consistently, and that’s probably one of his biggest strengths. He has a good slower ball as well. He has all the ammunition required to play the T20 format and I’m sure he will do really well,” quoted Dinesh Karthik.

Bravo’s prediction going right

Well, Dinesh Karthik is certainly not the first player who has been impressed by the bowling prowess of Basil Thampi. Earlier this year, during the IPL, Thampi’s Gujarat Lions teammate Dwayne Bravo had showered praises on him. He had went on to quote that Thampi would turn up to play for India soon. Well, in all likelihood, his prediction seems to be on the verge of being true.

“I would say he will get the opportunity to play for Team India in a year or so. He has the talent, obviously, but he also has a lot of heart, pace and the skill. He’s always willing to learn,” Bravo had said earlier.
