'Thank you Dhoni' - Fans react after CSK drop Kedar Jadhav from their Playing XI against RCB
Jadhav has aggregated 58 runs in four innings for CSK at an average of 19.33. His strike-rate has also been just 98.30.
Hoping to shrug off memories of their previous game’s defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni walked out in the middle on the eve of their encounter at Dubai against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Dhoni lost the toss and Kohli elected to bat first on a batting-friendly wicket, covered with grass on top. Despite losing the toss, CSK fans were elated after learning that Kedar Jadhav has been dropped from the Playing XI. During the toss, Dhoni revealed that Jagadeesan has been given an opportunity of Jadhav.
Jadhav, 35, was heavily trolled by CSK fans following his batting exploits against KKR. The right-hander was sent ahead of the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo. Chasing down the target of 168, CSK needed someone to put his foot on the accelerator.
Kedar Jadhav was bashed by fans for his snail-paced knock
After Shane Watson’s vital half-century at the start, CSK batting force failed to tick the run-flow. Their scoreboard read 101/2 at one point and CSK were looking like the favourites to pocket the match. However, the game turned its tide in the latter phase of the match. Mystery spinners Narine and Varun Chakravarthy added a twist in the tale by scalping wickets and slowing down CSK’s run-flow.
Skipper Dhoni, who scored 11 off 12 deliveries, was shown the exit door by Chakravarthy in the 17th over. After the leader’s departure, the Yellow Army needed 39 off 21. All eyes were on Kedar to smoke a couple of boundaries and sail CSK’s ship to the shore. It all came down to CSK needing 26 in their final 6 deliveries. Jadhav, who stayed unbeaten till the end, failed to clear the rope, leading to enraged fans asking his removal from Chennai’s Playing XI.
Against KKR, Jadhav managed to amass just 7 off 12 and his snail-paced knock led to fans lambasting him on the internet. CSK supporters even questioned the team management for giving Jadhav so many opportunities in the on-going IPL 2020.
In the absence of vice-captain Suresh Raina, Jadhav has completely failed to contribute in the middle. Talking about his stats in the on-going IPL edition, he has aggregated 58 runs in four innings for CSK at an average of 19.33. His strike-rate has also been just 98.30.
