The Coronavirus outbreak has severely affected the lives of lakhs of individuals across the globe. The pandemic has put a halt to all the human activities and several governments have been forced to implement a lockdown in their respective countries.
Apart from affecting the human existence, the pandemic has also taken a toll on all major sporting events across the globe. From the Tokyo Olympics to IPL 2020, the majority of the sporting events have either been postponed or cancelled in the wake of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, many eminent personalities including cricketers have stepped up and donated their bit in the battle against covid-19. BCCI also hogged the headlines by donating a staggering sum of INR 51 crores amid the stern situation in the country. Furthermore, Sachin Tendulkar and Ajinkya Rahane also donated INR 50 lakh and INR 10 lakh respectively.
Suresh Raina also joined the list as he donated INR 52 lakh to aid to the battle against the pandemic. The left-hander pledged to donate Rs 31 lakh to Prime Minister’s CARES Fund and Rs 21 lakh to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. In these trying times, many cricketers have come forward to help the community and Raina’s generous donation was lauded by many individuals including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Please do your bit too. Jai Hind” tweeted Raina. PM Narendra Modi reacted to Suresh Raina’s tweet in a hilarious way and praised the batsman. “That’s a brilliant fifty, @ImRaina,” wrote Modi.

Recently, Raina was involved in the pre-season camp that was hosted by Chennai Super Kings before the much-awaited IPL 2020. Raina practiced with Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Piyush Chawla among others in the first week of March before the camp was suspended due to coronavirus outbreak.
However, considering the current situation across the nation, the tournament has landed into hot waters and the feasibility of IPL 2020 looks bleak. Currently, the coronavirus cases in India have crossed the 1000-mark amid the lockdown and 25 deaths have been reported so far in the country.
